Konungstekja means "King-taking" in the Farewellish, Froyalanish and Wintergleamish languages. It is the legal and cultural term that denotes the coronation ceremony of the King of Elwynn. The coronation ceremony takes place in either the Tower of Araxion or in the Araxion Forest depending on the time of the year and as the weather may permit. In Elw, the coronation ceremony is known as Redizarai.
The Konungstekja has thirteen stages:
- Query of Acception;
- Elwynn's Proclamation;
- Bath of Purification;
- Wedding of Kingship;
- Oath of Office;
- Anointing and Crowning;
- Presentation of Regalia;
- Oaths of Loyalty;
- Hailing;
- Vappnatakk;
- Rúmleida;
- Consummation of the Sacred Marriage;
- Hegira.
Query of Acception
At the crack of dawm the King rides at the head of a group of companions from Araxion Castle to a ford in the Araxionian Elwynn, the most sacred tributary of the Blue Elwynn and of the Elwynn (River) as whole, which is called Lady's Ford. Each companion represents one of the Twelve Peoples of Elwynn. The King is seated on a white mare and is, just like his companins, clad in full knightly armour. At the ford the aforesaid band of royal riders is awaited by Her Holiness the Yfirfroyalansgythia and High Priestess of the White Orchid Temple, the senior cleric of the Froyalanish Ancient Ways, and a large crowd of Elwynnese subjects from all Princely Precincts of the Flower of the North. Her Holiness is carrying the unsheated Sword of Goodness and the crowd is armed with swords, shields, axes, spears and (cross)bows.
"Halt! Who are you and what is your business here?", the Yfirfroyalansgythia and High Priestess of the White Orchid Temple asks in a commanding voice.
"I am Thorstein Noah of the Houses of Ayreon-Kalirion and of the Descendants of Freyja, King of Elwynn, Imperial Chieftain of Thule, Prince of Amokolia, Arvjarl of the Twenty-Six Jarldoms, Storjarl of Stormark, Lord Imperial on All Continents, Prince of Natopia, Knight of the Holy Lakes, Lord of the Two Sacred Rivers and the Twelve Peoples, Duke of Froyalan, Duke of Northshire, Duke of the Lady Esther Isles, Jarl of Bernicia, Baron of the Fórntida Kærleikalanden, Baron of the Elw, Baron of Opplysta Smørvirket, Count of Araxion, Count of Cimmeria, Count of Storborg, Count of Wintergleam, Warden of the Flower of the North, Blood-Unifier of the Jewel of Many Facets, Knight of the Holy Lakes, Scion of the King of Kings, and I am here to be coronated your King. Make way!", the King replied.
Her Holiness the Yfirfroyalansgythia and High Priestess of the White Orchid Temple shakes her head, and makes a sign of denial with the Sword of the Goodness.
When the King moves to cross the river anyway, the Lady Royal and Spritual puts the Sword of Goodness at the ready and the crowd raises its weapons as well.
"Who are you and what is your business here?", Her Holiness asks again.
"I am Thorstein Noah of the Houses of Ayreon-Kalirion and of the Descendants of Freyja, King of Elwynn, Imperial Chieftain of Thule, Prince of Amokolia, Arvjarl of the Twenty-Six Jarldoms, Storjarl of Stormark, Lord Imperial on All Continents, Prince of Natopia, Knight of the Holy Lakes, Lord of the Two Sacred Rivers and the Twelve Peoples, Duke of Froyalan, Duke of Northshire, Duke of the Lady Esther Isles, Jarl of Bernicia, Baron of the Fórntida Kærleikalanden, Baron of the Elw, Baron of Opplysta Smørvirket, Count of Araxion, Count of Cimmeria, Count of Storborg, Count of Wintergleam, Warden of the Flower of the North, Blood-Unifier of the Jewel of Many Facets, Knight of the Holy Lakes, Scion of the King of Kings, and I am here to claim mine birthright, the White Orchid Throne. Therefore I need to cross this river, so get of the way!"
Again the Yfirfroyalansgythia and High Priestess of the White Orchid Temple shakes her head, and makes a more severe sign of denial with the Sword of the Goodness. The crowd braces itself.
"I am Thorstein Noah, son of Hallbjörn, son of Esther, and I, servant of the servants of the People of Elwynn, have travelled to these most sacred lands to wed mine love, betrothed and Queen, the Lady Elwynn Kwendia Eiseamlars- og Spedomhainsdóttir of Mount Yaanek and the Tower of Araxion, the White Orchid Goddess. May I cross the river?"
Suddenly the Sword of the Goodness starts singing, an ancient magical tune in a mythical forgotten tongue, and the crowd bursts into raucus and joyful roaring!
