About
The Landsraad is the federal legislative body of Shireroth. It is nowadays primarily made up of the nobles of the land, with some commoners thrown into the mix.
Leadership
The Landsraad is overseen by a Praetor who acts to organize, tally and close votes. Each male member of the Landsraad is titled Lord Elector of the Imperial Republic, and each female member of the Landsraad is titled Lady Elector of the Imperial Republic.
The Prætor presides over the Landsraad in all matters. The Prætor is authorized to appoint a deputy prætor to assist the Prætor in matters that shall be delegated to the deputy. The Prætor may choose to appoint more than one deputy praetor, provided that in such instance there must be a hierarchy between the deputy praetors.
The Prætor may not vote unless to break a tie. Similarly, any of the deputy prætors is not allowed to vote when presiding unless it is to break a tie.
When the Landsraad has no Prætor in office, the Kaiser (or the Ruling Steward) or zir appointed deputy prætor presides, provided, however, that the Kaiser (or Ruling Steward) or zir appointed deputy has no vote except in ties in those proceedings.
Origin of Name
The word "Landsraad" is ultimately from the Danish, meaning 'council of the land'. It was imported via the Dune novels by Frank Herbert. In Dutch, a recognised language within Greater Audentior, it has the same meaning as in Danish.
