Mediterranea was formed in 2003 as the reincarnation of Trian after it was decided that Trian lacked any substantial culture. Mediterranea is therefore considered a SanderNation, as Trian was formed by Sander Dieleman.
Mediterranea had its own state religion, mediterraneanism. According to its constitution, the sovereigns were the gods Aleph and Taw. In practice, they were represented by the Prophet of Aleph (head of government) and the Prophet of Taw (head of state). The prophets were elected every two months. Mediterranea was a direct democracy, with the Mediterranea One as its legislative body.
Mediterranea had temples and high priests as the equivalent of ministries and ministers. The high priests were appointed by the prophet of Aleph, while the prophet of Taw was in charge of the Mediterranean military, called the Hand of Taw.
