Jessica Smith
Jessica Smith (1632–1655) was a Florian politician for the Florian Liberal Party. Second president of the Florian Republic (1654–1655), succeeding Edwin Farrar, during the short-lived Shirerithian protectorate over the Florian Republic. Member of the Landsraad for Floria from 1653 to 1655. As a member, she spoke passionately about the Florian integration into the Imperial Republic, and stood as a candidate in the Steward elections (which she ultimately lost to Waldemar Zinkgraven). Before her election to president, she was a well-known supermodel in the Florian Republic.
Her short rule as president made the Florian Republic's international already bad reputation worse as she lacked any kind of skills in negotiations, keeping deals, and understanding consequences of her actions. It was believed she was elected to the presidency for her looks rather than any kind of actual skill. Ultimately, this brought devestation upon her homeland, as she took measures to ensure that her homeland would leave the Imperial Republic, bring it to war and desolation, and make her beautiful land – once lush and green – red from the blood of her own people. While she always attempted to do the right thing, the ill counsel she received towards the later stages of her life brought her country and herself down to an untimely death for them both. She was captured by the extremist cult First Order of the First Republic and executed in late 1655.
Following her death, Prætor Armin Jamal-Arminzadeh led the Landsraad in mourning her death. The mourning ceremony was noted for being particularly poorly attended.
