Gyllmára Búllar derive their name from Gyllmára Wectasdóttir, who was the daughter of Lilja the Devout and the second High Priestess of the Thingeyri Temple. They are since times ancient beyond the memory of woman used to exercise the executive, legislative and judicial temporal and spiritual authority of the High Priestess of the Thingeyri Temple and the Jólaslafðir.
