Official designation ESM-28, designed and produced by the Gaelen Technologies Corporation, the Coraniaid were miniaturised seismic, atmospheric, and electromagnetic sensor probes that were combined with proximity, pressure and tamper fuses connected to 5.5 kilograms of TNT.

Entering mass production in 1658 the Coraniaids were supplied to the II Aviation Division in Mishalan for deployment via parachute canister into the Inner-Benacian Quarantine Zone, known colloquially as "The Green", in an effort to simultaneously map and inhibit the extensive Tee-al ranges that menaced the borders of the Imperial Republic.
