The Barony of Opplysta Smørvirket was a subdivision of the Duchy of Elwynn with Nathan Waffel-Paine serving as its Baron. It existed from 1536 to 1542 in the days that Elwynn was called Froyalan. The counties of Opplysta Smørvirket included Araxion, Smjörkýr and Illumination. It was established by means of an Act of Landsraad.
The name Opplysta Smørvirket means Illuminated Butter Fortress in the Froyalanish and Wintergleamish languages. It is an allusion to an important cultural feature of each of the Barony's three constituent counties, to wit: Envisionism (Illumination), the Butter Cow and the Bovic Faith (Smjörkýr), and the ancient fortress known as the Tower of Araxion (Araxion).
