The idea beind the term Imperial Republic is that the nation of Shireroth is an empire with a semi-Republican form of government in the way of the Landsraad. The logic behind this idea is that the Nobles of the Landsraad in a way represent the people in their fiefdom, but are not elected by them. In practice the term is completely made up and simply sounded nice.
