The Venerable Union of Aligned States is the end result of a collaboration between the Carson Smith of Faronia, Bartholomew Henzelli of New Germany, Tasneem Chowdhury of Natopia, and Nathan Waffel-Paines of Natopia (all were also of Lavalon) that would unite Lavalon, Natopia, Faronia, and New Germany. Originally proposed as an equal merger, VUAS developed into an acquisition agreement, with Natopia agreeing to acquire the nations while internal matters were strictly left alone. Only Faronia and Natopia freely joined VUAS after its public announcement. Lavalon voted the treaty down once, then another vote ratified it with the changed vote of Akhilish Pillarmani (aka Aryez).

After merely a week of what one could consider success, on July 11, 2005, Lavalon's then Chief Justice, Matthew Vasroixe declared VUAS unconstitutional, withdrew Lavalon from VUAS, thus collapsing the Union which required three members. Faronia was abandoned by Carson Smith, who soon immigrated to the Dinarchy of Antica. New Germany never officially entered VUAS, and was taken "off-line" shortly after VUAS collapsed. After VUAS collapsed, Natopia withdrew from the treaty of recognition with Lavalon and relations have been chilly since that time.
