The Laqi Schism is a term which is used by historians to describe the months August and September 2010 in which the county of Modan-Lach, the Duchy of Elwynn and Duchy of Straylight tried to secede from Shireroth.

It got thanks its name to the declaration of independence by Modan Lach as the Free Laqi Republic, which was the first in a series of secessions. Ironically, only Straylight and Elwynn succeeded in getting their independence, while Modan Lach was reincorporated in Shireroth.

Reactions of other Duchies

Kildare

The Dutchy of Kildare opened debate with a joke of seceding by Jonas, quickly followed by a new reaction of him to assure that it was simply a joke. It nonetheless started a debate in which whole the Kildarian population discussed the matter and assured the Kaiser that they stayed loyal to the Crown and the Empire. Kaiser B'caw I thanked the Kildari for their loyalty.

Yardistan

They helped the Shirerithian cause with blowing up some Babhkans, Anticans and Ashkenatzim who supported the secessions.

Brookshire

The Brookshirians resisted the independence movement on its own soil but didn't act with force. After a while, this led to a peaceful return of Modan-Lach under the Shirerithian banner.

Aftermaths

Straylight gained its independence rather quickly because it didn't own any land. For Elwynn, however, there were more troubles: they owned land and besides that, the land was developed by more then just those who seceded. In October 2010, the Imperial Government recognised their independence.
