The Iron Gazette is an independent newspaper in Goldshire which regularly publishes articles on politics, economics and current affairs. The Newspaper is located in the city of Chryste, and has a readership of roughly 400,000 people.

History

The Iron Gazette was founded in 1640 by journalist Peter Olufsson, who was unknown before he started his venture. There exists no record of earlier articles published by Mr. Olufsson, and the whereabouts of the editor are also rather vague and unspecific. This caused some malevolent tongues to start the rumour

One of the first published Iron Gazettes

that Peter Olufsson did in fact not exist, and was merely an alias used by Iron Company Governor Ludovic Verion, in order to operate a seemingly independent newspaper for the advancement of the business endeavours of the Iron Company. Both Mr. Verion and the Iron Company have denied these rumours in the strongest terms.

The Gazette was published for the first time in 1640, and first copies only contained a number of advertisments and generic articles about small economic matters. The Gazette first rose to prominence after a publication on a report by the Royal University of Chryste concerning the safety of Ryker Airships. The Gazette cited the report's strong criticism of the airships used by the R.A.S. and implored its readers to abandon the company and use alternative transportation instead. This was seen by some as an obvious attempt to promote Iron Airships, an Iron Company venture.
