Politics

Post by Yvain Wintersong »

I do like writing stories and making pretty graphics, but is there anything more...governmental and political here? I've been here a week and I don't think I've seen anyone disagree about anything. Peace and harmony are precious things, but I'm starting to worry I've wandered out of micronationalism into the Stepford Wives movie. I know from the wiki that there have been a LOT of Kaisers, so surely something must be going on rather than Kaiser Mors continuing his benevolent rule for all time. Where is it happening and how do I get involved?

As someone in no position to answer this ...
Landsraad is for Dukes only to vote in, though we peasants get to discuss laws outside. Then there's Foreign Affairs and so on. But Shireroth isn't as big on politics as some nations .... or is that just now?
The character Andreas the Wise is on indefinite leave.
However, this account still manages:
Cla'Udi - Count of Melangia
Manuel - CEO of VBNC. For all you'll ever need.
Vincent Waldgrave - Lord General of Gralus
Q - Director of SAMIN
Duke Mel'Kat - Air Pirate, Melangian, and Duke of the Flying Duchy of Glanurchy

And references may be made to Vur'Alm Xei'Bôn (a Nelagan Micron of undisclosed purpose).

Well, Shireroth hasn't been in any recwars since I joined back in 2005. Maybe we need a civil war or something.
Or we could discuss macronational issues.

Well... no, we haven't really ever been hot on creating political controversy here (despite the name of our off-topic forum). We've certainly had controversy in the past, and the surefire way to create a lot of flames in Shireroth is to advocate democratic reform, but... really, we prefer to just harmoniously cooperate to create a nifty nation and a fun place to be.

As for the matter of having a lot of Kaisers, that's simply because Kaisers rule only for a few months in Shireroth at most. It's a tradition, and it works reasonably well for the purpose of stirring things up every now and then.

Recently (well, relatively recently) Kaiser Meskan... II lifted the ban on political parties. Don't think it was ever reinstalled (I believe since about forever they've been banned). As such, there's the capacity for political lobbying and that within the nation - it's just never been big here.

What a mistake... on the other hand... there's nothing so undemocratic as a party :thumbsup

Excellent... :evil

But we could call it: the PAPHNKS ( Party for Absolute Power to His Niftiness, the Kaiser of Shireroth ).

Come on... contenders for the throne is much more interesting than political party debates- we want war! anger! complex and tenuous links to the Kaiser's throne!

Not sure many are left who have much claim to the throne.. Ari and Shyriath... Carol too.. have been Kaisers.. so have some claim... that's about it at this point..

I'm not so keen on political parties.. and when they did exist.. it proved my point....

Don't have a problem with them myself - always good to have friends who think the same way you do.

In any case there's more to politics than claiming the throne. I hope! :fish

Well.. there are actually a good deal of politics here, but people seem to defer a lot to who is above them.. Mostly me as Kaiser it seems...

what we need is more people veying for my favor... yeah.. that's it! Suck up to me! Make me love you... That's Feudal politics...:)

Also, I'm sure there are those that don't agree with some of my policies.. or those of ..well.. we don't have a lot of ministers... Which is my policy.. I'm trying to move powers into the hands of nobles....(which I'll explain in a post tonight with "The Pragmatic Duties of a Noble" and later with "The Socio-Ethical Duties of a Noble")

Ahhh, good, a little manual for nobles.

As for sucking up... you WILL recall those Kaiser-glorifying things I suggested under that thread about titles and such, right? Right, Your Most Magnificent Niftiness? </shamelesssuckingup>

I think I just realized what happened to the Politics.... They used to be centered around Traditional/Conservative views.. versus everyone else... Especially the Radical/Democratist movements... Now... There are no real Traditional-Conservative left, even I've gone.. almost Radical in some of my changes... mostly moderate. Plus my willingness to allow/try most anything... so.. we have no conflicts.. cause... no one is really running into opposition to their plans and ideas...

I also think people no longer are picking fights just for the sake of picking fights with others here. People have become more civil in their discourse, and are willing to discuss rather than fight for their point of view..........

If that's true: why the USA delared war on Iraq? Because of the weapon arsenal?

Politicians talk because they want or more time, or there country isn't strong enough to fight. And we're becoming lazy... :sleep
