What did the old citizen notice used to say? Wasn't something like "Our Storm is Approaching" or something? Just curious. Major General Vladimir VolkovCommanding Officer of the Krantisk VerfliienMinister of Krantisk SportsAnyone here go to Purdue?

There was no other sign, there were no other signs! The other signs were imaginary, they were on the moon!It said "The Storm is Coming", or "A New Storm Has Come" or other references to meterological phenomona at other times. Re: Vopros
I'm not sure about this, but in the official transliteration method, I think the cyrillic E (ye) is represented as just E in the roman alphabet also. So it would be da, net, privet.I think the roman Y is only used in denotion of the the cyrillic 'yu', 'ya', and on it's own as 'i kratkoe'.Then again, I could just be talking complete bollocks. As for a patronymic name, Arkadyevich sounds pretty damn cool...

Re: Vopros
There are a number of different transliation methods.Privyet, Nyet, etc are perfectly acceptable as there is a difference between stressed 'e' (which sounds like ye) and unstressed (which sounds like latin 'e')Latin "Y" (sometimes "J" and "I" are used as well in some circumstances) is used in denoting stressed "ye" (as I mentioned previously), as well as yu, ya, and short "I" (as in russkii/russkiy/russkij...an example is in your login, Krasniy)Anyway, what I wrote in russian is just asking if you have a patrynomic

Re: Vopros
Agh! Stressed letters, always were a pain in the arse.Bah, I'm still slowly learning. Do you think it'll work to learn a shitload of vocabulary, read a lot and pick up the grammar as I go along? That's my method, anyhow. Doesn't allow for good pronunciation, mind...

Russian pronunciation is extremely difficult. It's more irregular and varied than other slavic languages. Another stressed letter to look out for is "o" which when unstressed sounds more like a. The biggest pain in the ass is discerning the hard and soft sounded consonants though.Anyway, it would probably be very difficult to learn Russian that way. The cases are something which really need to be studied when first learning.

The reasone why i was asking was because I was bored so I found some pictures threw some phrases together and made these: I think I may throw some together for any other micronations who want any. Oh yeah, and some common words with unusual pronunciations which you might want to know.zdravstvuy (strict latin transliteration) - the first v is silentyego (strict latin transliteration) - should be pronounced with a v like"yevo" even though g is written there.

Re: Vopros
Hmm, I'm OK with the stressed 'o'. I find that most of the time the version that 'sounds right' is the one you're supposd to use *shrug*I'm alright with cases too, despite the fact there's more than 2, but I agree that soft and hard pronunciation is a pain.: -->:">

The stressed and unstressed sounds were actually the hardest for me, since I tried to pronounce all of the words as though they were croatian.

Re: Vopros
I figured out the zdrasvuite and yevo early on, thank god.Another wierd thing is, all the russian words with non-Russian origin like 'Hamburger', 'Hitler' etc, the H is replaced by a G in Russian. Which is it pronounced as?
