IMPERIAL DECREE Nº 692 ON ZY-RODUN

BY

HER MAJESTY THE KAISERESS

Dear All

Someone just told Me that when Yardistan was disestablished, the island of Zy-Rodun was promised to the House of Ašura for it to govern it. Since I am quite sure a house cannot do very much on its own, it needs a leader. I have always liked the feudal titles Marquess and Marchioness (isn't it just pure poetry?) so that will be the title of the leader. Of course, the Marquess/Marchioness will always be subordinate Me and My heirs and successors, since Zy-Rodun will remain an Imperial Dominion under the name and title of the Imperial Marquessate and Island of Zy-Rodun.

I studied the habits of the blue, winged Ašura people. I was shocked to learn that they more or less ban men from being emperor! How rude! How sexist! So in that vein, My greatest sympathies fell for one man (can you call a safir a man by the way? well... you get My point), a certain Prince Daniel, though I must admit the sympathies were due to My never-ending love for Prince Daniel of Elwynn (of blessed memory). Just the Safirian prince's name brought tears to My eyes.

It is so decided, that upon His Imperial Highness The Prince Daniel, being the son of Maia and James Ašura, belonging to the House of Ašura, I confer the title and dignity of Marquess of Zy-Rodun. Since I do not feel like researching Safirian (or Ašuran) nobility and genealogy much more (and the rude and sexist rules they have!), I make the title hereditary. The right of succession to the title of Marquess (or Marchioness) is given to the descendants of Maia and James Ašura. Elder siblings and their descendants have precedence over younger siblings and their descendants, and so on, until the line is extinguished. Age is determined by day, not silly notions as hour that no one can remember, of birth, in the Elwynnese calendar, Zy-Rodun time. No difference shall be made between biological and adopted children, nor between children born within or outside wedlock. In any case where there two or more individuals have equal right of claim to the title, they will simply have to share it. Should the line die out, I (or more probably My Heir and Successor) will have to review the whole arrangement and study some more Safirian genealogy (by then, they will hopefully have updated their strange rules so that sympathies can be given some other helpless bugger).

The Marquess is free to govern his island as he pleases (needless to say, but I say it anyway, whenever I speak of "Marquess" I obviously mean "Marchioness" when applicable. I am neither rude nor sexist) within reason (that would effectively be My reason (or my successor's)). Whenever the Marquess is not on the island, he shall appoint a Seneschal of the Marquessate and Island of Zy-Rodun who shall conduct all business, under the command and instructions of the Marquess of course.

Whenever the Marquess dies, the presumed heir must make a case to the Court at the Keep that he/she/it is the one with the superior claim. The Marquess may also abdicate and may do so by writing to Me (or My successor). I (or My successor) will then strip him off all his titles and the normal rules of succession will apply without any need to review the arrangement.

Finally, the Lex Provinciarum is amended with an insertion of Article 8, which shall read "The Marquessate and Island of Zy-Rodun is an imperial dominion, governed by Imperial Decree 692".

That should be all.

May the Lady Elwynn bless the hearts of all of you. My love and affection to you, My dearest, dearest people.

The Keep, 6 Rugaall 1620 (5653 ASC)
