Formation and Structure

The structure of the Imperial Army is relatively streamlined into administrative divisions and operational legions. A legion will have at least three core regiments that pertain to its mission function as well as any additional squadrons or troops required to perform operationally. A legion on operations therefore is essentially a battle group.

Structure of Units

The most typical variety of Imperial Army units are structured as follows:

Type of Unit Field Army Corps Division Legion Regiment Squadron Troop Section Fire Team
Contains 2+ Corps 4+ Divisions 2–3 Legions 3–5 Regiments 5–7 Squadrons 3 Troops 3 Sections 2 Fire Teams 4 Individuals
Personnel 100,000+ 40,000+ 10,000+ 5,000+ 550–750 100 30 8–10 4
Commanded by Magister Militum Imperial Legate Dux Legate of the Legion Lieutenant-Colonel Major Captain or Lieutenant Corporal Chosen Man

Table of Organisation

Palatini Corps

By a minor historical quirk, the Kaiser's personal bodyguard, the Kampioen Guards, was for a time placed under the command of the Imperial Navy. After the re-establishment of the Imperial Army, the Kampioen Guards were re-brigaded as part of the Palatini Corps of the Imperial Army.
The Kampioens were supplanted in their role by the Order of the Sentinels, which reported to the Kaiser directly and sat entirely outside the structure of the Imperial Forces.
