Kahunamea III was the father of Kahunamea IV, King of the Mala'anje. He was killed in battle against a Spanish-Dutch army near the present site of Dunkinopolis after only reigning for three years.

His primary influence on history was in the education he gave to his son, infusing him with a great love of his people.
