Breaking news from the steps of the Keep! The imperial heralds run back and forth throughout the capital, declaring that everyone's favorite absolute monarch, Kaiser Los III, has abdicated the throne of Shireroth, declaring MiniEx and known Irishman Eoin Dornan the heir to the throne as he did so.

After declaring Imperial Decrees #188 and #189 (respectively awarding Orders and replacing the Charter to allow for commoners to be allowed into the Landsraad one day), Imperial Decree #190 laid out the Kaiser's thoughts on his reign. He noted a perceived lack of interest in his economic ideas, and also tallied up the Antican split into Dinarchy and Republic as a failure on his part (though he had tried hard to prevent it).

But he went on to say that

"We are currently the largest, most active, and most creative country in our sector. But as we have learned so many times before, basking in our laurels is the easiest way to lose the initiative and collapse back to nothing. We need to learn how to keep and integrate those new citizens who have stayed with us. We need to use our friendly rivalry with the Grand Commonwealth as an incentive to outshine them without it getting nasty. We need to navigate the murky waters of the Atteran and Antican coups to get a firm grasp on what we want to do with each situation. We need to flesh out the foundations of our internal culture further. And to do it, we need someone with the typically Shirerithian qualities of affability, dedication, and an ability to think outside the box.

Choosing an heir was not easy. I found myself wishing at various points that I could give all of the people who asked the position, contrary to, for example, the US presidential election in which I frequently wished there was some way none of them could end up winning. I know that I have passed over several very deserving people. However, I had excellent advisors, both official and unofficial, who helped me to make my choice. I thank them, for in the end, I am satisfied I have chosen rightly.
Eoin Adrian Aaron Dornan, you are now Kaiser of Shireroth. May Death spare you long."

Soon to assume the simple moniker of Scott Alexander once again, he also noted that he would be taking a leave from active political life to relax and work on some projects. We all wish him well, and a prosperous reign for the new Kaiser.

In other news, former Baron of Elwynn and current Shah of Babkha, Ardashir Khan Osmani, has returned to Shireroth after a lengthy absence during which many sorry foes were sent to the salt mines. He will reportedly be taking up residence in Elwynn again, where there are thankfully no elves left to bear the force of his hatred of all things elven; according to current Baron Ric Lyon, "he had promised not to be too evil".

And as reorganization of institutions continues in Attera after the ouster of Emperor Mik'el Tzion I, there is a drive to honor Liam Sinclair, current editor of the RIMA Journal and massive contributor to the workings of Attera in the past, by creating an award named for him. The Imperial Noseworthy award will be given once a year, each Hanukah, to a citizen who has contributed massive effort.

Death spare you all
