View from Benacia/Issue 94: We're at ShireCon '05, Mr. President

Our great and glorious Kaiser has Decreed a time, place, and general itinerary for ShireCon '05! It is now officially set in New York on October 15th and 16th. We're not entirely sure who's going to be able to make it; most Shirerithians seem to avoid the East Coast like the plague. It's likely that Kaiser Los III will be in personal attendance, as will Dutchess Hypatia Agnesi; rumor has it that Steward Shyriath is also making secret plans to sweep in regally, astounding everyone with his presence till he trips over his own feet, but other sources say he's still waffling over how to tell his parents about this. Only time will tell, folks.

Meanwhile, in the Landsraad, support for a bill to bring back Abstain votes to their full glory has been steadily building in recent days, as evidenced by one thread in the Front Gate. However, a recently proposed bill meant to fulfill this goal seems, after a brief spate of support, to have collapsed as it was realized that the wording of the bill would have severely disadvantaged lesser nobles (as was pointed out succinctly by MiniInt and "Masculine Kildare" leader Gryphon the Pure).

For other stuff to look at, we here at the View suggest two developing stories: The Passing of the Elves in BAM (currently only the Prologue is posted) and The Tale of Sagittarius in Muad'dib (which might, incidentally, be getting its name changed... the Barony, that is, not the story).
