Shireroth celebrated its fifth year of existence this weekend... HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Yes, in a stunning proof of its ability to outlast other micronations, some species of small mammals, and "Star Trek: Enterprise", the Imperial Republic of Shireroth began the celebrations of its fifth birthday, with partying and foreign accolades in General, and a lengthy yet nifty speech by Steward Scott in the Kaiser's Court. Though not by far the oldest micronation in the world, Shireroth has been around longer than most (including Babkha... hah!), and food, drink, whores, and more drink were all seen in abundance.

Yet all was not good cheer and overindulgence, for on this occasion Shireroth was also faced with saying goodbye to its Glorious Founder, Erik. In an announcement in General, Erik informed the nation that his LOA would become permanent. Commenting on how much the nation had grown in the five years since its foundation, he expressed his belief that Shireroth now had a suitable leadership to care for the nation without him, and he could now turn to real life relatively undistracted. Although he will be keeping his citizenship, he will not be posting, and will help out mainly with "little things".

Before bidding Shireroth farewell, he also left Count Shyriath of Benacia a few gifts, saying that "You really are my clone.. or me yours.. or something. You seem to think alot like me. but... not as stressed out, and without the depression." He confirmed Shyriath as Duke of Brookshire, and keeper of the Line of Mortis. And then he added,

"3. Forever Kaiserness. If I can. I seem to have this status as default Kaiser, if all else fails.. stick it with Erik. Well.. Tag. your it. So. If the line of succession ever come into play. Put Shyriath were I am. That is my only request as I leave. My only requirement. (I can hear people grumbling already)... This is my greatest gift to you. and my greatest curse. It is the most thankless job out there. How well I know."

Shyriath is reported to be publicly speechless, although sources close to him report hearing screams of "But I just RETIRED!" from his office. Nonetheless, a spokesman for the Count... Duke... whatever-he-is... commented that Shyriath would do his best to live up to expectations.

Toads Exploding in Germany and Denmark

In lighter news, toads in northern Germany and southern Denmark have begun exploding due to the buildup of gasses inside their bodies. In his first act as unofficial moral guide to Shireroth, it is believed that Shyriath will recommend breeding the creatures for use as weaponry by the Shirerithian military.

Yeah, I felt the need to say that. Letting off steam. I'm the editor, I'm allowed to do that. :P
