Rebellion in Brookshire!

Alexandra Decens, Baroness of Alexandretta, recently declared herself in opposition to her lord the Duke of Brookshire, and she and the Duchess of Goldshire are currently running around nekkid with picket signs until Duke Rakesh is removed from his position. The Baroness was quoted as saying:

"You say that you respect the traditions and values of Shireroth, yet you continualy propose immediate reform of our governement and laws, when, if you truely knew about Shirerithian traditions, you would at least know that slow, well thought out reform works much better and is more widely accepted than the radical and immediate reform you so adimantly propose."

The Duke of Brookshire is renowned for his numerous attempts to bring human rights and more democratic institutions into our feudal nation.

In response to the Baroness' rebellion, the Duke issued several decrees, including Decree 013, establishing Count Shyriath as his heir on the Ducal throne, Decree 014, establishing the promised General Assembly of Brookshire, and an Emergency Decree temporarily removing the Baroness from her position, replacing her for the duration with the Count of Benacia, and reducing Alexandretta's votes in the Landsraad. All these measures should be revoked once the rebellion is over.

Talk About Timing...

Meanwhile, in the Landsraad, the situation with the rebellion has jogged the Kaiser's memory about something he meant to fix, and so he has proposed the Fixing the Duke Removal Laws Act. This changes the current laws for removing Dukes from office, limiting votes to Dukes only, changing the required number of positive votes from 2/3 to 3/5, and giving each Duke one vote instead of their normal Landsraad votes.

Aside from some quibbling over whether or not 3/5 is really a more convenient fraction to deal with, there was little debate over the general usefulness of the bill. Still, the Duke of Goldshire believes there may be some more need for tinkering (for reasons of which this editor is not yet aware... curses, I already voted!) and is presumably working on a version that will address some issues.

More Attacks?

It was recently reported that DOS attacks were threatened against Cyberia by a mysterious group caled the Nation of Dyre, a nation in the Active Worlds simworld project. WarVoid, head cartographer for the MCS, has offered his personal help in preparing for any unpleasantness. The View will let its readers know immediately if we hear any further news on computer-based attacks on any micronations.
