Well, okay, not really. But close!

In an announcement in the MNN forums, chronic micronationalist Ryan Caruso describes the boredom that lead him to perform strange necromantic rituals, drawing from the cold dead earth the spirit of Menelmacar, and infusing it into a new body: the nation of Yyldrnis (pronounced "wilderness", illogically enough). The basic idea behind Yyldrnis, it seems, is to achieve the fantasy-style atmosphere of old Menelmacar in a fun community-style micronation, without suffering the same ruination by "wankers".

This may help to explain the system by which the new nation will be run: "It is a self-styled anarchist-like state based, loosely, on Druids (Dryads) and Elders (Eldyrs). No government. No leaders. Just advisors, task-holders and our patron - Vinyar - the god of wine. *hic*" The Yyldrni constitution can be seen here for for reference.

Work is ongoing on finding an official language for the nation. Opinion seems split on whether or not to create a new conlang for the nation, or whether to go with the same Tolkien Elvish languages that Menelmacar had relied on. A wordy proposal by Kaiser Mors IV of Shireroth suggests a combination of the two, with Quenya being mostly used in official terms and works of lore (like Latin), and Yyldrni being used in all other official-Elvish contexts.

As Ryan (now known as Aran Dewleaf in Yyldernis) says: "Visit us. Don't visit us. I'm really not gonna push it. You're the one that'll miss out on the wine festival. :P The seriousness of the nation is obviously low-key, akin more to the golden era of Menelmacar, which a good deal many people miss. Of course, now that we're rid of Mari and Kathryn (and for some, Archetype as well) it's safe to use green, gold and Quenya once again."

In a related story, the Emir of Raspur is said to be preparing the usual round of fiendish tortures for all elves he can lay his hands on.
