Raynor XI Steps Up to the Plate
The new Kaiser of Shireroth, Raynor XI, announced the inauguration of his reign yesterday after finishing his last duties as Pr�tor. Though His Majesty had no prepared speech, he stated that "under my reign several things will be changing. I will be putting in place a revised charter soon and after that I have several laws I shall decree and.. a surprise..."
His Majesty did not elaborate on any of these changes.
After noting that he would not yet appoint a Steward, the Kaiser declared the Pr�torial elections begun, and started a thread at the Landsraad Front Gate for that purpose.
There Can Be Only One
And, indeed, the elections are proceeding at a fairly steady pace. Despite considerable confusion as to the proper way to submit votes, votes were submitted nonetheless. At the time of this writing, it seems that all votes but two have been submitted, those of the Baron of Amity and Mirioth and the Dutchess of Kildare.
The vote tallies, as far as this editor has been able to determine, are as follows (note that these figures are not official):
Zirandorthel of Hyperborea: 5 votes for 1st choice 3 votes for 2nd choice 4 votes for 3rd choice
Nick of Yardistan: 1 vote for 1st choice 3 votes for 2nd choice 8 votes for 3rd choice
Eros of Kildare: 6 votes for 1st choice 6 votes for 2nd choice 0 votes for 3rd choice
Although the method by which the winner will be declared is not exactly known, it seems that former dark horse Eros Darkstar is in the lead, followed by former Pr�tor Zirandorthel and Duke Nick (aka Gryphon Avocatio) of Yardistan. Only a few votes remain to be cast, but it seems that sympathy for a returning oldtimer may have tipped the balance in Eros' favor.

New Ruling Duke of Goldshire Ruhan Zarathustra Erudinzadeh recently passed the Official Words Decree. The decree provides for the use of certain official words within the realm of Goldshire, and establishes the first of such words to be "Shirerothian" as the proper adjective for all things from Shireroth, as opposed to the popular "Shirerithian".
In an utterly unrelated story, the View will now be using "Shirerithian" as its standard, especially when referring to stories coming out of Goldshire.
Controvery in the Landsraad? Naw!
Although voting has ceased during the Pr�torial elections, the controversy has not. With the failure of the Pr�torial Powers Amendment to pass the Landsraad, attention now turns to the Closure/Extension Amendment. The row between the bill's proponent, the Duke of Yardistan, and its main detractor, Baron Von Scot of Hallucination, continues unabated, the two sides bitterly opposed on whether or not it changed or fixed anything.
By the conflict has taken on new dimensions. Following a plea by Duke Grpyhon to his fellow Duke in Kildare to curb the outspoken Baron, two of Von Scot's votes in the Landsraad have been taken away. Although the Duke of Yardistan had made his request on the grounds of Baron Vno Scot's inexperience with the Landsraad, the Duke of Kildare apparently had other reasons to agree to the change, notably the Baron's taking effective control of Kildare during the Duke's recent absence. The situation then took on a different twist when, after a vehement response by the Baron, the Duke of Kildare then reduced his votes again, to zero. It remains to be seen if the Baron of Hallucination has any plans for further protest.
