The Minister of Research and Education, Nick the Yardistani, has officially resigned from his post.

The Ministry had been largely moribund for a number of months. The most important institutions under its authority, the Tony Au Memorial Library and John Metzler III University, are almost entirely dependent on voluntary participation from citizens, and there have been no submissions or new classes in many weeks; in addition, the Minister himself admitted to having done nothing with MoRE in ages, though few blame him for the Ministry's lack of activity.

Nick submitted his resignation from his post yesterday, and a few hours ago today, the Kaiser sadly accepted. There is as yet no word as to who the replacement will be, or even if the Ministry will be continued.

Pendronia, Forgive Us!

The long-awaited treaty with Pendronia seems ripe for passing the Landsraad, marking the approaching end of a long and embarassing episode for the legislative body. The treaty, which failed to pass previously due to a lack of quorum, was reintroduced into the Landsraad on the 10th by Duke Shyriath of Brookshire, upon noting the Kaiser's wish that it be put through again.

The bill currently stands at Y-32 to N-7, with the only negative vote being cast by the Duke of Goldshire. It is worth noting that Goldshire's refusal to vote on the treaty last time it was sent through has been cited as the reason that it was unable to pass; the Duke had asked to be given a reason why he SHOULD vote on such a treaty, and had received no satisfactory answer.

Voting on the treaty is expected to close soon, and hopefully meaningful relations with Pendronia will then begin.

Meanwhile, however, another treaty passing through the Landsraad seems not to be doing so well. The treaty with Lemuria stands at Y-9 to N-3 to A-1, and will likely soon fail due to lack of quorum. The Duke of Goldshire, once again, has stated his unwillingness to vote unless provided with good reasons for doing so.

Jolly Red Giant Ho, ho, ho! A new applicant for Shirerithian citizenship has appeared in the form of Red Giant, whom Moose seems to have pestered into trying to join. Sadly, it looks like BAM is going to get him. Damn you, Yardistan!

...Er, I mean, let's hope Alex approves him soon. *Innocent grin*

Another Reason to Hate Yardistan

And as if that weren't bad enough, Yardistan is once more ahead in the post count.

Yes! After months of domination by the almight Duchy of Brookshire, the lead in the post count has once more gone to the Duchy of Yardistan, after Brookshire lost its ever-so-productive *wistles* thread back to Alexandretta. This was celebrated in a solemn ceremony in the steadily-growing Capital of Turkey thread:

"now that Erik took *Wistles* back to Alexandretta, we're ahead of Brookshire in postcount again. I guess the next thing we need to do is to spread propaganda about how Party Game (now Thread of Pure Evil) and JOIN THE PARTY at Goldshire really belong to Hallucination :p"

Response from the Duke of Brookshire was brief, and rather manic:

"I KNEW I should've insisted on keeping that thread...

Ah, but fear not, I'll find a way to steal some of your threads, and your brief spate of supremacy will come to naught."

Inside information indicates that this may not be all to the Duke's plan. Duke Shyriath has been itching for a good, fun recwar for ages, and sources close to him say that he's been eyeing the Yardistani holding of Florencia as a possible prize, so threads may not be the only things he comes to take. ...Er, if he tries to take anything, of course.
