The Steward Stews

The Steward surprised everyone, including himself, today by actually doing something worthwhile with his power, issuing two Decrees (#134 and #135) and one Proclamation. The Decrees established, respectively, an attempt to resolve the Landsraad-Ministries dispute and an attempt to get Nobles to notify the Kaiser when they make a Decree. The Proclamation, meanwhile, recommended some thingies about the Kaiserial office meant to spruce it up.

Opposition to all three measures was amazingly nonexistant as of this writing, although we have confidential sources that tell us the Kaiser may be planning to rewrite one of the Decrees for better wording.

Madland the Free!

The Empire of Madland, after unification with Antica earlier this year, has announced (see bottom of thread) that it has resumed independence from that nation. Antica, a strong friend of Shireroth, noted that the secession was illegal and in contravention of the agreement made by Madland upon joining. Minister of the Exterior Scott concurred, having this to say:

"Well, even if they hadn't rebelled illegally... And even if you weren't our friends... And even if they weren't ALL THE SAME PERSON... And even if they didn't constantly generate irritating nonevents and report on them... ...they just annoy me. So I will not propose a re-opening of relations to the Lansdraad, and will argue against anyone else who does so. "

Thus far, no one else in Shireroth seems to have had any interest in dealing with Madland, with the possible exception of the Minster of Trade Ozarka Monto.

We're So Ashamed...

In one of the strangest and most disturbing spinoffs ever in the short history of this newspaper, the Monday issue of the View on recent re-immigrant Harvey has resulted in a search for an avatar for him by Phoenix the Risen. All the resulting photos are of an extremely evil-looking masked guy from Farscape, although some of them are in decidedly non-evil costumes.

It is our sincerest wish that Harvey not choose one of these for his avatar, especially not due to this paper, and that he finds something far less creepy in the days to come.
