Velike Muzy
Velike Muzy (Great Muses), formerly known as East Mishalan Muse, is a city in northern Mishalan. The city is one of the oldest Amokolian cities and dates back to the era of King Jess. The city was founded as a center for learning, and as the name would suggest, was named in honor of the Three Muses (science, literature, and the arts), a local myth which predates even Amokolia. The city was originally divided into eastern and western portions, controlled by Mishalan and Vattnaland respectively. After the communist revolution the two cities were rejoined as Velike Muzy. Living up to its name, the city boasts three major universities, and nearly all infrastructure is dedicated to supporting the academic population. VMSU is the largest university in Mishalan and is renowned for its biological research.
The city has become the main garrison for the Soviet 11th Army and is a popular posting for conscripts and officers on their reserve training call up on account of the myriad of opportunities for getting drunk and into fights with the students of the VMSU over girls in the various bars of the main student drag. The local Militsiya (police) don't discriminate and enjoy laying into off-duty soldiers and students alike with equal gusto when breaking up these little disturbances.
