Sadrism is the term for the political ideology formulated by Governor General Mahmood Sadri Maleki and applied by the National Development Party. According to Maleki it is a practical, liberal, nationalist ideology tailor made for Talenore. Independent political scholars view it as a set of broad populist rules aimed at appealing to as many people as possible, in order to maintain the NDP's hold on power.

Features

Sadrism is based around a few core tenets. The principles are not clearly defined, probably to make them as flexible as possible.

  • Talenore First: The notion that the interests of the state are paramount and take precedence.
  • People First: The welfare, liberty and happiness of the people is the primary concern of the state.
  • Unity First: The unity of the people and the state is vital for the survival of the state, sectarianism is not tolerated.

Implementation

The policies promoted by the NDP are rooted in populism. A universal healthcare system with a large private component, a state-run education system with non-profit charter schools, and what is publicly described as a free market economy, but with heavy state intervention where it is deemed to be necessary. The party promotes racial and religious unity in accordance with the third tenet, and generally steers clear of overt favoritism. The Sadrist Alliance has passed several laws to combat sectarianism and social discord. The laws have been criticized by the Progressive Union - Green Society and other progressives and liberals for limiting free speech. Another feature of Sadrism, although it would probably be worded differently by members of NDP, is the identification of threats to the state. In the past it has been Alexandrians and Iterans. During much of 1666 there was a discussion within the party about how to address the Vanic threat, more specifically the sizable Storish population. This feature of the NDP's ideology has also been criticized for being heavy-handed and repressive.
