Imperial Decree #238 - Political Parties

Political Parties are hereby unbanned from Shireroth. This revokes Imperial Decrees #97 and #124.

In Shireroth, a political party is defined as an group of people organized for the purpose of directing the policies of a government, or a group of people having a common identifying interest that provides a basis for action. Thus, for the definition of Shireroth, political parties still encompasses the idea of political interest groups. There are some political parties in real life that focus on one major interest, anyway.

Despite the well intentioned meaning behind the ban, something that I had supported in the past as well, it has been a mistake. Although Shireroth was founded for stability, stability is not always a good thing... especially now. Shireroth lacks a political body, a sense of faction clashing, which promotes activity. Shireroth is built to still be stable, however, and I doubt that allowing political parties will cause the nation to collapse any more than a lack of activity will.

But there will be some restrictions. Forums shall not be guarenteed to political parties - we have enough forums already. In order to prevent too much controversy, a political party must have relevant goals to Shireroth and micronations. Thus, no macronational issues. To keep the neutrality of the position, the Arbiter of Shireroth may not be a member of a political party. As well, the Kaiser and the Arbiter have the right to disband a political party at any time.

The actual change of the lawbook shall be as follows:

1) Change Chapter V, Section U from:

Code: U: Political Parties 1: Prohibition a. Political parties are banned from Shireroth. b. Any denizen of Shireroth who creates a Political Party is liable to punishment by the Kaiser, Landsraad and/or Judex. 2: Political Interest Groups a. Political Interest Groups are a form of political party.
