In early 1660, Prætor Lord Sprocket announced elections for Steward in the middle of the year.

At the outset, there were three nominees for the position:

  • Lady Mira Octavius-Aryani, Count-Palatine of Kezan, Khanum of Cabbagefall (nominated by Lady Dragonmoor)
  • Lord Armin Jamal-Arminzadeh, Count of Suthergold (nominated by the incumbent)
  • Lady Rei Miłarna, Princess of Shireroth (nominated by herself)

After voting had concluded, the tally was:

Elector Voted for
Liv Dravot, The Imperial Mother Mira Octavius-Aryani, Count Palatine of Kezan
Juana, Viscountess Dragonmoor Rei Milharna, Princess of Shreroth
Rei Milharna, Princess of Shreroth Rei Milharna, Princess of Shreroth
Hartmut Aldric, Count of Elsyran Mira Octavius-Aryani, Count Palatine of Kezan
Mira Octavius-Aryani, Count Palatine of Kezan Armin Jamal-Arminzadeh, Count of Suthergold
Ryker Everstone, King of Goldshire Abstained
Mahmood Sadri Mira Octavius-Aryani, Count Palatine of Kezan
Nostalgia of Amarr Rei Milharna, Princess of Shreroth
Michael Verion Mira Octavius-Aryani, Count Palatine of Kezan
Ari, Count of Furniture Rei Milharna, Princess of Shreroth

With 4 votes for Lady Mira, the incumbent, and 4 votes for Lady Rei, 1 for Lord Armin, and 1 abstention, the Prætor found himself in the position where he needed to break the tie.

Unfortunately, he was unprepared for this. The Prætor, being a cyborg of kind, did not have circuits that allowed him to make such decisions in a neutral position. This caused the Prætor, Tinker Sprocket, to break down and resign his prætorship without casting a vote.

A constitutional crisis ensued where the Kaiser was allegedly kidnapped by his exiled granduncle King Noah of Uppland, the Elwynnese civil war raged on even more, and the Landsraad being in deadlock without either a kaiser to supervise it or being able to elect a new prætor.

In the end, however, the Landsraad, now taken to charge by Regent Harmut Aldric, reelected Tinker Sprocket, having had a system upgrade, to the Prætorship. That election was not without controversy, and it was very close against the contenders Lady Rei and Lady Mira (in this election, too!). In the end the Regent declared Sprocket to have been reelected. The reelected Prætor then broke the tie in the Steward’s election in favour of the incumbent Lady Mira, eight months since the election began.
