They are all extraordinary.
A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.

Robert Heinlein might get one of the US's latest destroyers named after him.

I never found Clarke that particularly spectacular. Asimov I loved. Heinlein I never read.

Asimov is Ashkenazi. His father owned a candy shop. He's known as Doctor A by his fans.

I've read Asimov, he's awesome.
The character Andreas the Wise is on indefinite leave.
However, this account still manages:
Cla'Udi - Count of Melangia
Manuel - CEO of VBNC. For all you'll ever need.
Vincent Waldgrave - Lord General of Gralus
Q - Director of SAMIN
Duke Mel'Kat - Air Pirate, Melangian, and Duke of the Flying Duchy of Glanurchy

And references may be made to Vur'Alm Xei'Bôn (a Nelagan Micron of undisclosed purpose).

I take nothing away from Asimov, one of the most brilliant and prolific writers of the previous century. I just had to post one of my favorite quotes. I get a lot of mileage out of "Specialization is for insects."

Clarke was brilliant, but in a different way.

Asimov was just so tongue-in-cheek about his own literary genius/utter madness...

He was never afraid of self-satire. I remember a column he wrote about (i think) memory, when, as a young student, he ended up using the name O'Asimov for an hour or two. I believe the situation involved an Irish lass.

If my doctor told me I had only six minutes to live, I wouldn´t brood. I´d type a little faster
Asimov. Legend.
