My place in the economy.

Post by Jacobus Loki »

As you may know, I'm a skeptic on the new economy, and frevently opposed to the Erbs-Are-Everything system in the Landsraad.

The second still grates in my stomach, although as I have no official position (or erbs) I can easily ignore it.

As for the first, as some of you have heard before, I own a little business that provides myself and a few others with a living. I won't become involved in the business-end of the economy because if I want to play busines, I may as well do it for real and get $ such as they are these days.

As far as the economy goes, any erbs I am paid for whatever, work, bribes, etc., I will donate to the Jacobus Fund, which will be a charitiable foundation. We will be involved in wildlife preservation, promoting the arts, and the like.

We will also accept donations. :)

Will these erb be used as votes over bills? Because (I'm sure you're very aware), you're basically asking people to give you money which would increase the weight of your political agenda.

I don't like the idea of erbs for votes. It smacks too much of either bribery or coersion, or from the other end, extortion. I feel squeamish whenever payola is involved. It's bad enough to have to spend money to campaign, but to then say you will give erb to get your duke to vote your way just seems wrong to me. I see no difference except in degree between giving a poor person money if he votes your way and paying your duke to do the exact same thing.

Erbs should be used in commerce and legitimate ventures, for positive purposes; not, IMHO, for voter manipulation.

Jacobus - your place in the economy is, from your bench in the workhouse, the putting of finishing touches to lead-based childrens toys ready to be exported to the decadent infidels. :document

Hypatias Mom, I think Hesam means that if Jacobus has erbs, their power can be used for voting. Not bribery ...
The character Andreas the Wise is on indefinite leave.
However, this account still manages:
Cla'Udi - Count of Melangia
Manuel - CEO of VBNC. For all you'll ever need.
Vincent Waldgrave - Lord General of Gralus
Q - Director of SAMIN
Duke Mel'Kat - Air Pirate, Melangian, and Duke of the Flying Duchy of Glanurchy

And references may be made to Vur'Alm Xei'Bôn (a Nelagan Micron of undisclosed purpose).

Good point.

No, the money might be EARNED by someone bribing ME, although since I have no influence, that would not be likely at this time.

(Maybe I can get fees as a lobbyist...... :D )

Foundation money would never be voted.

Besides, Hesam, we all know that I no longer have any political agenda...... :p
