Erik Statement Time.

Post by Erik Mortis »

People need to calm down. It's okey if people are pretending to be angry, but no one should be really angry. This is Shireroth. We are all friends here.

I find myself in a really odd situation. I was the one who brokered the deal 4 months ago. As "the gods". And it was to solve a situation such as this one. Now we are back here again.

As Arbiter I have pointed out that the legal successor is indeed Ayreon. But everyone wants to go by the old agreement. Which is noble and honorable of them. Thus comes my odd situation. I am basically the "gods" yet as arbiter I have to help uphold the legal side of things. And while it pleases me people respect the gods, and agreements. I cannot officially back my own agreement from 4 months ago, as arbiter. It's kinda amusing.

But yes. People need to calm down and figure this one out. I, nor the gods, will take no action outside my official jobs. People keep trying to call on the gods to resolve this, but this one is up to you guys.

So basically... Image

I like this actually. If Shireroth is going to grow, it cannot depend on you to solve all its problems. It's not fair to you and it limits the possibilities of the state. If this continues three options will occur:

1. Ric will revoke his claim

2. Jacobus will revoke his claim

3. A mediation will occur

In any case, a solution will be met sooner or later. All that I want is that a clear universal rule be developed after the issue is complete.

WE ARE CALM!! :angry

It's still a game, what get said isn't meant serious.
From a distance I'm concerned about the rampant lawyerism manifesting itself in Shireroth currently. A simple Kaiserial slap on the wrist or censure by the community should suffice. - Jacobus Loki

Truth is. There is no need. The Charter states that the Kaiser declares his heir. That's really the end of the legal story. It's up to people to decide what they want to follow.

I'm not happy with how this turned out. And you really made a mess of things putting us in this situation. But people need to figure out what they recognize more.

Ayreon is the legal Kaiser. Loki II is the one supported by the people.

What has more power here? The Law? or the People? (If someone says the Gods I will eat them...)

Yes, I did make a mess of it, but as far as I can tell people are still having a good time. I don't think anyone has had their feelings hurt yet. And no one seems to be thinking of emmigrating. Infact we gained some people.

Yes, I did provoke a situation (not entirely intentionally) but what you said is the heart of the matter. Is Shireroth subject to law or subject to the whims of popular opinion?

And the thing I find funny, is that it's always down to you. I'm not blaming or anything its just how it always works out.

- Judicially, you're the authority there
- In the Landsraad, you're the single deciding vote
- And ofcourse as "the gods" you can step in if absolutely necessary.

For whatever reason, the decision always comes back to you, which puts into question the value of the Kaiser and the charter all together.

I've never seen this happen in any other micronation ever, so its bizarre. Almost a personality cult or something.

I think the solution is clear.

Ayreon is the legal and rightful Kaiser, and should go down in history as such, but he should do the honorable thing and abdicate to Loki, with or without some deal to make it worth his while. Possibly after holding out a while to keep up activity levels :evil

While its more preferable than previous proposals, isn't it exactly what you said you were against? Deciding future Kaisers gives an unfair advantage?

The gods live. sometimes they let mortals make there own decisions.

Some gods then fry them (mortals) later.

That's why I said "with or without a deal" rather than "with a deal", and if there were a deal, Steward or some other high position would be better than successor.

But to be honest, the more I see of both of their styles under pressure, the more I kinda like Andelarion. He's...quiet but strong. It's times like these I'm glad I don't have any power anymore and therefore am relieved of the burden of making a decision.

The Landsraad has no power over the Kaiser, nor can they decide on who is and who isn't Kaiser. They can voice an opinion, but the Kaiser could just dissolve the Landsraad in that case.

Let's say we have a weapons malfunction, and the traitor who pullled the trigger is shot "by accident" with his own gun.
