Bar Association

Post by Malliki »

Dear Sir,

how would one go about forming a bar association for Shireroth? If formed I would propose the name "League of Lawyers", conveniently abbreviated to LOL. As I am seriously considering forming a business that deals in legal matters, some formal recognition of lawyers would be helpful.

Regards,

Sounds like a damn good idea... then we don't have to rely on poor old Erik as the only one who can actually recall the relevant law in a given situation. :document

Lawyers? I liked Inquisitor better myself, cause that's what I used as a term... Then we can have an Inquisition! (You'll just die...)

But find a way to use the name Inquisitor, and I'm down with it.

How about Provocateurs instead of prosecutors?

Anyhoo, names aside....

Things I would require...

1. Complete understanding of the Charter.
2. The ability to quote laws clearly.
3. The ability to write a law for the lawbook. (cause so few can it seems)
4. The ability to tell me why or why not a fake situation violates the charter.

I like the requirements posted by Erik. Like a small bar exam. Inquisitor/provocateur/prosecutor sounds more like the official title for those that represent the state in the courts. I am talking about the basic lawyer, that is, both prosecutors and solicitors. There is no problem with calling those lawyers that prosecute Inquisitors and those that defend... uh... defendants lawyers/solicitors/barristers/advocates or whatever we choose.

I used Inquisitor for the general terms. They.. inquire... *shrug*

I think it would be best for this organization to be under the purview of the Arbiter and the Imperial Judex. But maybe when I get internet, I can write something for the Landsraad to pass to create it. add it as a part of the Judex Chapter of the Lawbook.

I think Inquisitor is more suited for prosecutors. Then a trial can be called an Inquisition. The counsel for the defendant should perhaps be called just an Advocate? That way we can have Devil's Advocates. :) Titles aside, I think that a formalisation of the bar is required and in order. As the Arbiter, I suppose that you should be a member of the bar as well and why not its President (for the duration of your appointment as Arbiter)?

Devil's Advocate.. hehehe...

Ok. Prosecution is the Inquisitor, Defense is Advocate. And the Arbiter heads the errr.. whatever we are gonna call this organization, for the length of their term as Arbiter. Trials are called Inquisitions. (bout time we got this all sorted out)

OMG *fjortis*. Let's call it the Advinq in that case. Not Mango Law People. There should be at least some amount of coolness.

Lawyer is just a generic term. LoL.

Or let's just call it The Bar. :party
