1, 2 , 3 - everybody yell YAMO!

Post by Jacobus Loki »

Good. :fish

Now for my latest brainchild. :document

As many folks know, a number of nations exist on land that was Shirithian, and that by the Mango Map we are still interested in those lands to a degree. some of those countries are concerned about our future plans.

I suggest a Shirithian Commonwealth of Nations to which those nations may attach themselves, if they so desire. We can discuss the history that happened on those lands, and explore our connections. :love

This might go as far as a Shirithian Commonwealth Organization Treaty (SCOT), a NATO-type joint defense pact. Or something like that.

Thoughts?

I don't know much about Lac Glacei history (the bit that would be in Gralus) since we're big on the alternate timeline we've always been there thing ... but I've been thinking for a while about coordinating some of our history with some Jasonian stuff, which is practically the same thing. Gralus may be interested ....

Great idea! Batavië could join because of Absentia! :)

But Batavië has already a Commonwealth on it's own, and I don't think there are much people who want to recognise the kaiser as their head of state.
But if it's a sort of historical organisation, with recognising the kaiser as head of the commonwealth then I could find some support! ;)

And the SCOT is a good idea to!

Head of Commonwealth, similar to QEII in, say, Nigeria, unless of course a nation wants a closer ties, in which case the Kaiser could be declared Chief of State a al Canada.

Don't forget we have already a king as head of the state, and a Prime Minister as head of the governement.

Could you make some sort of charter?

Let me think...

Say something about history...

Say something about culture...

No parliament, but maybe a meeting between the ministers of the different member states...

Their will be no agressive war between the members :no

Am I the only one here who thinks this whole idea is a bit... condescending?

"Hello there. Uh, you have some of our lands. As a matter of fact, we've made an official policy out of wanting them back. Soo... would you like to be a member of our commonwealth? Oh, and recognise our Kaiser as your monarch while we're at it?"

Now on the other hand, how about cooperation on a pure cultural level? You know, something like going to Uantir and saying "Did you know a lot of your land is ancient Lothlarian territory? Would you happen to be interested in learning about Lothlarian history? Our micronational veterans are standing by and ready to answer questions about what the Lothlarians were like and how you could incorporate the historical local culture into yours. We ask for nothing in return <though the place to ask questions will be on Shireroth's forum of course, so you'll end up registering and posting here :p>"

That's the general idea. The Kaiser would not be their monarch unless they want him to be, but he would be titular Head of the Commonwealth, as one of the oldest offices on Micras.
:)

P.S.-

I think we can also open membership to nations with which we share a number of dual-citizens.

I love this idea, but I Ari makes valid points considering the condescending nature of such an offer.

I'm going with Benkern and Andreas on this one. I think that in order to make it work, we'd have to come up with a list of offers as to why this would be beneficial for the prospective nations. And I think no one would go for it if it was named "The Commonwealth of Shireroth" unless there was some story writing in which these nations were one a part of Shireroth and then declared their independence or something similar. The one thing I'd be definite on though, is that if this takes shape, the forum related to the commonwealth would be hosted by us on our home forums. Perhaps we could post it in the MiniEx (and then subtly move it to the MiniInt later.... :P )

But the main problem I find, is that most people will be unwilling to make a commitment to something like this unless there is a dispute in which Shireroth's influence could be useful.

Recognizing the Kaiser. that's a tough one. Remember most people have some sort of "fixation" on democracy so they may not like the idea of a non-elected leader. Then again, it is a Shirerothian idea, so if they don't like it...

I've given it some thought ... and I think I'm ready to try and combine Gralan history with more ancient micronational histories (ie Solarian and Shireroth). The problem's always been that I've said we've "always been in the land", but, in reality, my histories affect only a limited amount of the land, and there's maybe a millenia or two in the middle where I could fit some other history in, the magical stuff peters out and the non-magical stuff hasn't started yet. The convenient thing is I'm the only Gralan historian so if I agree, it's sorted.

So, I'm asking for all those nifty Shirithian historians to help me. http://www.novatainia.org/phpBB3/viewto ... =129&t=905 I know you wanted questions answered here but we need the posts more than you do. Some starting questions:
1. Name all the micronations that have ever occupied this sort of area, and their ASC dates of occupation, and basic culture/important historical information. http://www.novatainia.org/user_files2/a ... 20Land.PNG
2. Name all the bits on the Mango Map that have ever occupied Gralan Land, their ASC dates of occupation, and basic culture/important historical information.
3. What ASC did the Flying Islands of Jasonia fall, and why did the civilisation end (I've been trying to work it out from the games but can't)
4. Any more info on the Khaz Modian empire that isn't in that first great history chunk in the wiki?

That'll be a good start ...

We could always revive the old Commonwealth of Benacia title.. though no accurate since it would include nations not in this continent... that's of little consequence... or was it Benacian Commonwealth.. either way... It has historic value.

The first Commonwealth of Benacia (Benacian Commonwealth) led to the Hegemony of Alexandros, which help lead to Tymaria.

When Tymaria was active, I was a SAVAK agent. And yet strangely, I like this idea. The 2nd Commonwealth of Benacia?
While this is very tempting we should remember the nature of the last Commonwealth that came about in these parts. Hmmm...what the hell, let's do it. Just let me get around to writing up the economy first.

No historians leaping to my aid? Well, I worked out question 1 for myself. And (heh heh) virtually all the people on our land have been annexxed by Shireroth at some point so I'll be getting some more stuff from you. I just have a couple major questions that I'd appreciate help with:
1. Any idea of basic culture of an Aquria?
2. The Crandish Republic, later to be annexxed as Arminy ... what was their culture like?
3. What on Micras happened on map 7.0.4 in the archives, when the Crandish Republic appears to have been sliced up between Gotzborg, Alexandria, Stomark, GC, Attera, a separate Lac Glacei duchy, and Shireroth, only to all dissapear soon afterwards?
4. Are there ASC dates (or even real world dates to convert) for all the MCS map updates available somewhere?
