Help me interpret this dream!
Some sort of city, i've dreamed of this city before. I was in this plaza up on a really tall skyscaper, like a skylobby from SimTower. There was all these giant stone monuments of various sizes and sorts, and I wish I could remember them. After I was done looking at them, I started to walk around, and it began to look more like a giant mansion then a skyscraper. I started to do something terrible (I dont remember what specificly), but slowly all my relatives started dying, untill I got to my grandfather. I think I killed him, or something. I don't remember too clearly. But I ended up carrying him like that russian corpse from Hellboy to a room, where he told me he was dying, but had no reason to now, because he would never see me in Heaven. I told him that I was, and looked him in the eye and told it to him again. The dream ended with me on this bed, with all my old dogs, my grandpa, and some other people I don't remember dying around me.
Moral of the story: Don't drink semi-expired milk before you go to sleep.
Anyone care to take a crack at my dream symbols?
P.S. I just woke up and it really freaked me out, so apologies if this is even more ranting then usual.

Contact me on AIM, and maybe we can take a crack at this. It may have something to do with a certain someone who is no longer in your life.

Wow... I'd like to help but I can't do anything else with regards to psychoanalysis save for a bad Sigmund Freud impersonation. Hope you and Hypatia's Mom can sort this out, tho

You shouldn't worry about it, dreams don't have hidden meanings in them... they're just dreams.

Re: Help me interpret this dream!
I beg to differ. Sometimes dreams represent things your conscious mind is wrestling with, dealt with by your sleeping mind, using often familiar images that represent situations or persons in your waking life. This seems to be a way to untangle, resolve, or restate waking situations to help you deal with them in your waking life. And sometimes it might just be that strange food you had before going to sleep.

I just heard an interesting new theory on dreams worth sharing.

I think you want to have sex with your grandfather.
Look into that.

Oh, wow, that's neat. o.OYvain Wintersong wrote:I just heard an interesting new theory on dreams worth sharing.
I always thought dreams were the result of the mind 'recycling' thoughts... sort of like cleaning its own room while it had nothing else to do. So, not quite random, and very necessary - but without intellectual value, regardless. Ho-hum. o.O Thanks for sharing!

So for those of us who want an answer to our problems, but can never remember our dreams in the morning... we're pretty screwed, right?Sometimes dreams represent things your conscious mind is wrestling with, dealt with by your sleeping mind, using often familiar images that represent situations or persons in your waking life

I don't know. It's pretty weird to wake up having the guy who raised you for the first years of your life tell you your going to hell.

Did someone recently die? Not knowing your live situation I can't really help,,, And have you done anything lately you regret or goes against your stated values, or the values you are expected to uphold...

It was more the death of a dream. Greg can tell you more if he chooses.

I'd like answers to come from some of my dreams, but most of them are almost too bizarre to speak aloud...

Re: Help me interpret this dream!
You're preaching to the chore Greg.. and this you ought know... You still talk to her... last I knew...
But it is possible that it stems from a feeling of regret and that a part of your life is now dead forever... that one life is ended and that you see no joy and "heaven" in the life that will come, regretting actions you have taken that have led to this new "hell", blaming yourself for the end of all you knew...
Sound familiar?
"Heal myself-a feather on my heart
Look inside-there never was a start
Peel myself-dispose of severed skin
All subsides-around me and within
There's nothing painful in this
There's no upheaval
Redemption for my pathos
All sins undone
Awaiting word on what's to come
In helpless prayers a hope lives on
As I've come clean I've forgotten what I promised
In the rays of the sun I am longing for the darkness"

Re: Help me interpret this dream!
I think its best to work out these things for yourself. If dreams do have some meaning in them, figuring out that meaning can do as much if not more benefit as/than understanding the messages behind the dreams themselves.
Most likely I think dreams are nothing, but the nature of humans means we can discern worthy messages from them. It's all in there *taps head* - everything, in every one of us. Double-edged sword is you might end up believing something completely untrue, like, in this specific example, that your grandfather thinks you're going to hell. If you're going to hell, Greg, then I'm going to hell, so at least you'll have some company.

Greg,
If this was China I'd suggest you check and make sure you haven't accidentally dishonoured your ancestors recently.

ANYWAY,
Yeah Erik, that's what Carol said, and I tend to lean more that way, because it freaks me out still that he would say that. *shudders*

Very angry sheep?BAH! BAAAH!
Break-ups suck.
Divorces suck to the fifth power.
I know that is little comfort, but its true. Got the scars to prove it.

Greg and Erik--
And that is the only good point to a pre-marriage breakup. It saves you from a nasty, even more painful divorce
Jacobus--
I'm really sorry to hear you've been through that.
