After a rather tumultuous reign, the time has come for me to step down as Kaiseress in favor of another.

During my reign, we saw our nation debate dissolution, wallow in despair over our own inactivity and technical disasters, and somehow, through persverence, stubbornness, or perhaps sheer denial, we have survived. We have not thrown in the towel. We have not finally given up, turned off the lights, and gone home.

Now, it is clear that our technical problems are beginning to be resolved. Our records are being recompiled as well as possible. We are pulling together to bring ourselves back up to a better level of activity and a smoother running of the government. Once the technical fixes are completed, everyone can fully participate in discussions on how to modify, improve, and evolve our laws and feudal system.

Now, it seems like a good time for a transition. We can now see that there is hope for recovery, and that the end is not near. Now is a good time for a change of leadership and a return to increased citizen participation in government activities.

I name Erik Metzler as my successor. He is founder of the nation and knows it better than anyone else. We may complain about his politics now and then, and I'm sure many of us have yelled at him on many issues, but he is loyal to Shireroth. He has come and gone from time to time, as "real life" has forced him to reprioritize, as it has for all of us at different times. However, he is back now and seems determined to help fix our technical problems and lead us back into better, more active times.

I think he will do an excellent job. We should all lend him our support wherever possible.

Goodbye. I have enjoyed being Kaiseress, and I wish all of us a smooth transition.
