Tell me what your favorite video games are!
I'm curious. I have a theory I will present later.

I'll have to second that KOTOR rocks. But, unfortunately, it doesn't excite me very much. Still, I can appreciate a good game even if it doesn't tickle my personal fancy. Though... technically... I should finish it some day.
I'm in love with adventure games. First-person adventure games, actually, to be specific, I don't seem to have much love for the third-person ones. In that, I'm particularly fond of the Myst series, as well as Zork's Nemesis and Grand Inquisitor, and the much underrated (in my opinion) game of Labyrinth of Time. So, I dig being completely by myself and having to save the world. At my own pace. Word, dude.
Oh, and Kula World.
Oh, and Oddworld. Especially Stranger's Wrath.
Oh, and roleplaying on IRC online, but I doubt that counts as a video game. ^_~
Edit - I've no clue why the SW link is broken. But it'll have to stay that way, I'm afraid.

I beat up a few wolves and many rabbits pretty much each day in Lugaru. Starting a game of Lugaru does not mean "Let's have some fun" for me, it means "Hold on, I've been studying the secrets of the universe for a couple of hours now, I need a moment for my brain to cool down". Whether I play longer than a couple of minutes or not depends on entirely different factors, though
.
About twice a year I play through ADOM. It's some sort of a routine or tradition that, I guess, has become rather ingrained in me. One day, I just get the urge to play ADOM, and I know there's only one way to make it go away: Start playing, and keep playing until I've beaten the game (I usually go for ultra endings these days, too). Then it goes away and I'm ADOM-free with no withdrawal symptoms for several months.
I play a game of Nexuiz with some friends of mine every now and then, and every time I visit a certain cousin of mine in Rantsila we play Liero.
I consider myself a kind of a reformed powergamer. There used to be a time when I could spend hours on Civ or something like that... these days, it feels like a waste of time. Thanks to plenty of laziness and just a little maneuvering, I don't actually suffer of a lack of free time - it's just that these days instead of playing games I tend to read Slashdot or Wikipedia or whatever I feel will be able to educate me about computer science and all that stuff.
Besides, these days I don't really feel like learning how to play new strategy games well all that often. Battle for Wesnoth looks good, if you're a tactical genius with ability to plan three scenarios ahead in the game. I could learn to master it, but if I really wanted to master a game of tactics with simpleish rules, I think I should pick chess instead. OpenTTD also looks good, especially since I do fancy a game of RRT2 occasionally (more on that in a bit), it's just that it's got little substance outside of the rather technical fiddling with railway routes... which, I'm sure, could be a lot of fun if I could be bothered to learn how to make it work beyond single trains on separate tracks
.
Also, I'm a perfectionist, and I love reading strategy guides and honing my skills with a game. Too bad the "classic" games that I have on this box - Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, and Railroad Tycoon 2 - eventually break down under the pressure of community effort to find the best strategies and my own habits. In SMAC, the best way to build up an early economy is pretty well documented, and once you have said economy, dealing with the AI is a kind of a simple matter. In RT2, it's really hard to kick the habit of micromanaging your train cars once you've gotten into it.

I don't play minesweeper on this computer because it's almost impossible to play a satisfactorily fast game on a touch pad (since I tap instead of clicking the buttons for almost anything, and minesweeper requires extensive use of both buttons). I also can't possibly multitask in the middle of a game, as I can with solitaire. But yes, I am a very good minesweeper player, if I am forced to admit to it.
