It wasn't exactly raining. No, definitely not. After all, a solid sheet of water pounding the top of the train car couldn't be called rain. After all, "The Private" was a reasonable man, and he always liked his analogies, or similes, or whatever they were--he had never been well educated.The Private was also younger than his fellow soldiers. Younger--but he had lived in more countries, seen more battles, been in more outrageous espionage-related scandals than any of his comrades. He understood the life of the NCO--even that of the regular soldier. That was, after all, how he had gotten his nickname--he had risen all the way from Private to his current rank of Commander.His military friends considered him old at heart, young in the body, and traveled in the soul. He was the sort of timeless, ageless man who you overestimated the age of until he was 40--then you thought he was younger. He was the sort of man who used common sense in his tactics.The strategicians were the problem. Yep, definitely the strategicians.
