Fictional History of Kildare

Post by Bill3000 »

I'd like to point out that the fictional history as it stands is currently on the wiki.Yes, it is based from the Control of Destiny series, though I am editing the past to make it a little bit more sensible.http://www.shireroth.org/wiki/in...of_KildareTell me if you have any questions and the like, or if you want to help.By the way, if some of you could list some of the events that happened in Kildare as a Dutchy, I would seriously be appreciative.Remember, a map of what "Kildare" looked like in 215 ASC is at: bill3000.hypermart.net/Ma...micras.gif Bill Dusch - Archon of SoloralismPissing off Micras, one nation at a timeProud to be Apollonianvar txtList = new Array()txtList[txtList.length]="'Whoa! I can't believe ANYONE took MyNation seriously. The Brain still gets a kick out of that... as do I. There are no flowers, no not this time. There will be no angels gracing the lines, just these stark words I find.

Quote: I'm a bit confused. At what point does this stop being fiction? As you see, this is why I wanted to differentiate fiction and simulated history. This would technically be the Simulated History of Kildare.Simulated History is defined as this - for all intents relating to the simulation of the nation, the events that are have thought to have occured in the past of the simulation (real or not) are events of simulated history. There are forms of fiction that are not simulated history. A simple example would be a specific religion and its theology (including history of the gods of that religion) - that is not simulated history, because it is not guarenteed to have occured in the past. Another example is simply works of fiction that are not intended to have actually occured - say, Romeo and Juliet, or something more related to micronationalism, Mogbeth.A good example of the distiction is Christianity. It is thought by the vast majority of humanity that, whether Chrstianity had occured or not, there was a person named Jesus of Nazareth who would influence the beginning of the religion, whether or not Jesus was actually the Son of God. Christianity, on the other hand, states that Jesus of Nazareth is the Son of God. See the distinction here? One is related to the mythology of a religion, whose belief depends on whether or not you believe in that religion, while the other is (generally, ignoring controversies of a claim) undeniable. As such, a tenet in Soloralism is that both the sim-history and myth is canon - where the distinction blurs. This tenet came into being because there was controversies over the validity of the many different simhistories. SimHistory is irrelevant. None of it actually happened, so whether or not you say it happened in Soloralism or in SSHIT or whatever, it's NOT canon. If it actually happened, it happened. THAT is history. Half of it isn't needed. They call it a signature, but no one ever signs their posts...

Quote:SimHistory is irrelevant. None of it actually happened, so whether or not you say it happened in Soloralism or in SSHIT or whatever, it's NOT canon. There's a subtle but significant difference. The existance of SSHIT proves this, even though it wasn't much of an issue before. Think about this: Shireroth is currently multicultural, with various religions, even though Cedrism is the major (and national) religion. However, there are various other demonimitions which exist as well. Even though the belief system might be different, the various groups would admit that what is considered in SSHIT is canon in the sense of fictional history - that is, what is written in in SSHIT is true in Soloralism, Envisionism, Cedrism, et cetera. Thus, it is a matter of coordination here - the standardization of histories to make one that is relatively secular that all people can work with, so we could create an actual functional world instead of various pieces that make no sense. This is very important to me. (And if you look at SSHIT, it is one of the goals of the organization.) Not everything is relative - it isn't meant to be. (And no, this does not conflict with Soloralism - Soloralism just believes in the relativity of morals, not that all concepts of existance of relative.)Quote:If it actually happened, it happened. THAT is history.Yes, there is actual history. That's something completely different alltogether from simulation, although simhistory can derive from real history. By the way, from the Lawbook:Quote:P. Fictional Histories1.Any and all fictional histories created by anyone within Shireroth are subject to reference by other works. a. Any work using references and/or material from another fictional history are required to cite their sources at either the beginning or end of the work. b. It is the right of the creator of the original work to not recognize any works referencing them, and to consider them false.2.Shireroth officially recognizes the work of SSHIT as canon.3.a.Any fictional history is subject to follow the national guidelines for fictional histories as well as the local guidelines, depending on where it is posted.4.Duchies are allowed to form their own guidelines on the treatment of fictional histories. However, these guidelines cannot conflict with the national guidelines.5.Any fictional history created that does not have a Duchy, Barony, religious tie in (so that it may post in the relevant religious forum), or permission to post in SSHIT shall be placed in the Tony Au Memorial Library, under the appropriate category. a.Tony Au Memorial Library shall be subject only to the national guidelines regarding fictional histories. It pretty much is distinguished from other types of fiction, no? As I said, it's a matter of a baseline of history, with the offical history being the foundations to work upon.
