Kay we need a MiniImNat

Post by Kaiser Malarbor I »

So, yeah, since Ola's emigrating...

Harvey, you mentioned being interested earlier, do you want to take on this one? Because, you know, I do plan on further changes to this ministry, that is, I'm going to try to actually practically implement a lot of what I vaguely rambled about a couple of whiles back in http://shireroth.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=12555, and I know how you feel about me stepping on your toes. But, if you find my agenda a good idea, or don't but are prepared to argue against it loudly (ministers *are* there for policy direction too, you know), I'd be happy to appoint you for the job.

Or, if not Harvey, does someone else want to be MiniImNat?

I'm interested, though I would gladly take the position of Deputy MiniImNat if there is one. :kaiser

I don't need citizenship anymore. I have no plans for the Earldom of Kanto and it is unlikely that I ever will.

However, I will stick around for Diplomacy and whatnot (and possibly as a foreign diplomat in times to come).
Seriously, CJ, you resigned your citizenship.

So two votes for Cho'Gall and two for me? Is there a time limit on the voting?

I do believe that this is simply the nomination stage. The vote will have to pass before the Landsraad or be approved by Imperial Edict to be official.

Yays!

(come to think of it the idea of electing ministers does sound a bit weird, despite the fact that this is hardly the first time (I've opened ministerial elections myself)... still, I don't really have any preference between the two of you and I know either would be competent, so the election has my blessing and all that)

I wanna know how those running (feels odd to say that..) plan to create/implement projects that will require the services of citizens.

Maybe a program could be set up that consists of volunteers who keep up with a list of current, active and inactive citizens, and the last time that the citizen posted, so we would know who was truly active. We could use the last census records and all accepted citizenship applications and keep track of those people. The list would be public, and would have three categories: Active, Inactive, and LOA. After a certain number of days without posting, a person would be put on the Inactive list, unless they have announced a LOA. It would be very convenient to be able to have a list of people who are out on a LOA instead of searching the forum to see if they announced one somewhere else. Just an idea :)

Um, isn't it easier to just do the census?

I'd rather see MiniImNat collaborate with some of the other Ministries to fulfill Ari's immigration dream, and make Shireroth seem less GTFO to an outsider.

Personally, I'd rather see the MiniImNat collaborate with the Dukes on an duchy-by-duchy basis. it seems a more logical way to achieve comprehensive integration strategies for each individual culture.

I'd like to see the MiniImNat spread out new citizens more evenly if they can.

Well it will be a lot more in depth than a census, though a census will be used to help update the list. Plus, a lot can happen in the time between censuses. Here is an example of what I am talking about:
Nation of X
Citizens:
Jane Doe
John Doe
David Doe
Lissa Doe

Active:
Jane Doe
David Doe

Inactive:
John Doe

LOA:
Lissa Doe Date of start of LOA - 2/2/2010

I definately would not try and force a new citizen to join a specific duchy, but I would be all for trying to encourage a citizen to join a duchy with a low number of people. I think we could offer an extra 500 :erb to those who join those duchies.
