The Government of the Kingdom of Victoria and the Government of the Imperial Republic of Shireroth, desirous of strengthening the bond of peace which happily prevails between them, by arrangements designed to promote friendly intercourse between their respective territories through provisions responsive to the spiritual and cultural aspirations of the peoples thereof, have resolved to conclude a Treaty of Friendship and Diplomatic Relations and for that purpose have appointed as their plenipotentiaries,
Her Majesty the Queen of Victoria,
H.E. Hanne Grunstadt; and
His Imperial Majesty the Kaiser of Shireroth,
H.E. Jan Sebur

art 3. The nationals of each of the Negotiating States, shall have liberty freely to come with their vessels and cargoes to all places, ports and waters of every kind within the territorial limits of the other which are or may be open to foreign commerce and navigation.
Nothing in this Treaty shall be construed to restrict the right of either Negotiating State to impose, on such terms as it may see fit, prohibitions or restrictions designed to protect human health or life.
art 5. Citizens, goods and products of each Negotiating State within the territories of the other shall receive the same treatment as citizens, goods and products of the country with regard to internal taxes and other financial commitments.

Again, I dislike copied treaties.
Present a treaty here where you have actually done some work, actually negotiated something instead of just copied from some macronational treaty, and I will vote for it.

Re: Treaty of Friendship and Diplomatic Relations with Victoria
My Noble Friends,
As it was stated during the debate and vote on the treaty with the Nederlanden, Brookshire is of the firm opinion that Shireroth should not enter into treaties that provides no obligation on either part. A treaty is a contract.
With all respect due to Her Victorian Majesty and her government, the proposed treaty, and, I'm afraid, already signed, actually contains nothing. It is flowery language promising... absolutely nothing.
Now, Victoria is at our border. They own territory in Amokolia that used to be Elwynnese. Brookshire believes that there are many issues we actually ought to recognize in a treaty - none of which are included in the treaty of Friendship and Diplomatic relations with the Victorian state.
Now, Brookshire sees the work behind it. Brookshire is happy that Shireroth is entering good relationship with the Kingdom of Victoria, but would prefer if our two realms actually entered into relationships based on something concrete rather than the, say... nothingness contained in the proposed treaty.

My Lords and Ladies, Nobles of Shireroth:
Looking through the Victorian foreign affairs document, this was what came across me especially:
My Lords and Ladies,
I was under the impression that treaties were based on mutual trust and friendship. Having the policies of another country dictate what treaties we in Shireroth can even suggest to that country is very strange, yes, peculiar.
A joint communiqué for diplomatic relations and friendship is all that is needed, really. Treaties, I iterate, should be with things with substance in them, obligations on each party.
Looking through the Victorian foreign affairs document, this was what came across me especially:
The initial treaty of Victoria is the treaty of friendship and diplomatic relations. Any further
treaties with an individual state would only be considered after a period of 3 months. This gives us both enough time to understand each other and for us to evaluate the efficiency of each embassy.
Having held a treaty of friendship and diplomatic relations with Victoria for 3 months or more, the Kingdom will then enter freely into other treaties as each state sees fit and appropriate.

I firmly agree with Duke Llai. His little speech (if I may call it that) was very moving, and had some very good and noble points. I advise everyone else also read it and actually consider it.

Khorze NAY (3)
I agree with the good Duke of Brookshire in both spirit and practicality. I have felt for quite some time that micronational diplomacy is a bad joke. Even that aside, this treaty itself is oddly written and seems to put unusual restrictions on the flow of talks as has already been pointed out. No offense to any party that had a hand in writing this document, but I do believe we should strive to do better.
(Prætor, I admit to being a bit shaky as to the current holdings of the rest of my duchy's votes, a confusing situation compounded because of one our barons currently is under investigation for breaking citizenship laws. However, we can be reasonably sure, if of nothing else, that I as Baron of Khorze do hold three votes of Goldshire.)

This treaty is a copy from the macronational world. At least large parts of it.
