Automating the Landsraad.

Post by Erik Mortis »

The idea was put up in the Banking Law thread of automating the voting process.

While doable, I don't think it's really part of the bank. But it does have me wondering, once I get the basic bank done. I could, in theory begin automating things. Landsraad votes, Immigration forms, census forms..etc. Hell, I'm sure I could even get it to add things to the Wiki somehow... Then again, I'm not sure *I* would be able to do it in a good or timely manner.

But is that something that interests us?

Census would be nice. Landsraad isn't necessary, but would make things easier. Immigration we probably don't need automated...

having the numbers right there in front of you is GREAT for reffrence, but i think keeping the personal interactions is more important.

if we can have BOTH, it think that would be great, so your not just going -yes- -no- but saying -obstain- "because . . . . "

*scans his post* any idea what im talking about?

I think one of the most valuable parts of the voting posts is the reasoning people often use to describe how they reached their decision, or an argument putting the proposal into another form, which might actually make it more easily understood. I think we would lose a lot if we had just the automated votes. That might be used by the Praetor after the votes themselves are in, so the arguments would still remain.

I agree with Hypatias Mom - we need to know why people vote why they do ...
The character Andreas the Wise is on indefinite leave.
However, this account still manages:
Cla'Udi - Count of Melangia
Manuel - CEO of VBNC. For all you'll ever need.
Vincent Waldgrave - Lord General of Gralus
Q - Director of SAMIN
Duke Mel'Kat - Air Pirate, Melangian, and Duke of the Flying Duchy of Glanurchy

And references may be made to Vur'Alm Xei'Bôn (a Nelagan Micron of undisclosed purpose).

Yeah, don't steal my job! :angry

Technosceptic? Might as well make up words...

Well, it wouldn't take your job away Jonas.. just.. change it. You would still oversee discussions, and would be the admin of the voting system.

Couldn't we just outsource? It's a lot cheaper. I mean, all technical support phone numbers are just routed to Kamalshahr Babkha anyway.....

Outsourcing is a fad that will in the end bite management in the ass.

Don't trust to much on a system that can get broken easily.
It's unnecesairy and takes the most beautiful part of the job away: falsify the votes :evil

Forget that last part...
