Shireroth Bank V2
I'm making a new thread for the Bank I'm making.
http://www.shireroth.org/bank/shirebank.php
Using PHP and the MySQL database we have on the site.
So far all I have it.
The ability to create an account
The ability to login.
The ability to logout
Sessions working right.
Though I have the functions in place to do most anything else I might want. I basicly just need to build an interface and tweak the database a lil.

Re: Shireroth Bank V2
-datebase is tweaked to allow for keeping track of what duchy a person is in.
-functions to manipulate what duchy you are registered in is done.
-create account function is set to allow duchy registration as account creation. (still need to officially add it to the GUI)
-made the function that actually does all the fund transfer operations. taking and the giving. and some checking of sufficient funds.
-Erased the database again.
Should I let accounts go into the negative? or prevent transactions that put people over the limit? I'm inclined to prevent it, otherwise one in theory could Create money.

I'd say don't let accounts go negative. And I can't seem to get in, even with test2 ...

I would let the accounts run negative, its more realistic that way

Re: Shireroth Bank V2
The system is down at the moment. There are no accounts created and I fucked up the account creation page. But I have a fix in mind. This is what I get for tinkering.
Next time I post it will be working. As my Minister has said, I will not be letting accounts go negative.

Re: Shireroth Bank V2
Fixed.
Note that on the main page it now tells what Duchy the account is registered to.
People may feel free to make accounts and see the results for themselves. though be warned I will clear the datebase now and again during testing. I'll say so here. So check here first before saying it's broken. But if I haven't notified, let me know.
-increased info on homepage
-menu at the bottom now changes to reflect whether you are logged in or not.
-No longer tells you when a new session begins (that was just debugging crap for me anyways)
ideas
-Implement something akin to CSS. But would proly be a bit slapdash, cause I don't wanna learn css. But a background color and text color would proly be nice.
-Make the menu into a table for organization purposes.
-The ability to disable accounts without deleting them
-The ability to have a required code for account creation, and the ability for an admin to change it.
Next on the list.
-Implement admin tag in the database/ or admin account.(proly the latter)
-Admin controls to allow for the changing of duchy. (proly mose the menu into a function for one change fits all)
-Admin controls to allow for the deletion of accounts
-Admin controls to allow for the adding of money to accounts
-Utility to get a list of account names to work with. Allowing for dynamic dropdown menus.
-Ability for users to transfer money(about time)
-Admin controls to move money manually between users.
Note that on the main page it now tells what Duchy the account is registered to.

Re: Shireroth Bank V2
Good start! May I suggest the ability for users to 'Donate' being added? That is, to transfer funds to another user without needing admin? That'll make transactions between people so much easier, and we can just leave the admin stuff for transactions with the Crown.

Re: Shireroth Bank V2
That was the plan. I just wanted it so the admin could take money from one person and put it into another persons account without permission. Punishments, dead accounts, taxes..what have you.
Everyone will have the ability to control their own money 100%, it's just not implemented yet. I consider it a core feature. I already got the function written to do it. just a matter of GUI for it. and for that I need the account list so you know where you can send it. But some time this week there should appear a link when logged in named "Transfer Funds" which will let you send money from your account to anyone else's, including the crown.

Question, since it looks like we're going through with this, we should talk to Babkha about them either being able to copy the bank for their own use, or possibly negotiating the idea of the bank being a shireroth owned international company so others can use it?

Re: Shireroth Bank V2
I might be inclined to not charge a fee or have shares. But require a treaty that binds them to the bank. And maybe a representative in its development. Like there Minister of Trade and ours, (and any others) could set policy on how it's operated. And I as a developer can say if it's doable or not. though this kinda makes it into more of a Internation Organization like MCS then a institute of any one nation.
Would that be something we aspire to? We started the MCS, we got the Micro-Wiki off the ground originally, should we be the founders of the banking system too? We should move this discussion elsewhere as this is a thread for development stuff.

Re: Shireroth Bank V2
I just made a page for transfering funds.
It has 2 problems right now.
1. No one has any money to test with.
2. You could put letters in the number field.. as html doesn't allow for JUST numbers.. I'll need to code that into the script... I'm tired.. and need sleep.. so later.

Re: Shireroth Bank V2
Colours are much nicer, though if a little more GUI is possible I'd feel more comfortable. Transferring funds works well - and that 'I confirm' button is very good. How easy is it to record though - like, could you add a tab so you right a brief message of what the funds are for, and that shows up on the other person's screen with, say "from Andreas the Wise, 5 erb, for flag design" etc .... it would be useful for tracking. (and knowing when you get money)

Re: Shireroth Bank V2
Logging is a later feature. But on the list as important.
The gui is simple, and will remain so until I can research how to improve it. It's not a really high prioity option.
Is anyone else having issues with the Change Password form under Account Options setting of your browsers password manager.
I keep getting firefox asking if I want to change the password on things not even related to the account I'm using.
New Feature
-Account Options -> Change Password.
btw.. be really careful with this feature. No one use it on Admin. Or I'll kill you.

Doesn't seem I can create an account. I think there is a code error or something, but the "Create Account" button isn't displaying properly.

It works fine for me. I created test4 just now... Can you get me the text of any error you get or a screenshot or something. The buttons do look funny, but they are working correctly...

Re: Shireroth Bank V2
Complete list of current features:
-Increasing use of CSS
Users:
-login/logout (sessions)
-Create account(username, pw, duchy)
-Transfer funds to other accounts (dropdown menu for that, with confirmation)
-Change password (must know old pw and confirm new)
Admin
-View all accounts and corresponding data (not passwords)
-Move money between users without permission
-Create funds out of thin air.
Upcoming features
-Stats page for the entire system. (shows total money in the system, and in the duchies, # of users..etc)
-Logging but this is a ways away at the momen as it will require some database work I don't wanna do and is it's own system.
Users: (nothing on the block at the moment)
Admin:
-Change users duchy
-Disable accounts (not a priority)
-Remove money from the system (from admin account)
-delete accounts (NEVER the admin account and requires admin pw)
-set user passwords (allows for dealing with lost passwords)
Any requests?

Now there is no create account option. All I see is Login and Home, and when I press home I get a 404.

Apart from that, all seems to work well. A view Duchy funds option in user accounts would be great (or even a view total funds in bank). Otherwise, working nicely. Do we have a picture for our erbs?

Re: Shireroth Bank V2
The duchy funds page, which will facilitate the Landsraad voting, is coming soon. It's next on the list, or really close to it. Right after delete account.
I just need to figure out how I wanna implement it...
I'm thinking.. just get a userlist, then get the duchy for that user and their funds. Then make an acciative array (hash) and add the duchy name the key and the funds to the array, if the key is already there, then just add the funds... This will allow for changes in the number of duchies, recycling of as much old code as possible. and doing something a bit more complex then previous.
