Coronation of Hasan I
Before a throng of nobles, ministers, generals, commoners and foreign dignitaries, stands the great Cedrist Prophet Brrapa Lu'Eraro. To his right the Prætor of the Landsraad, to his left the Arbiter of the Imperial Judex. Before him stands the would be Kaiser and his Steward to be.
The Prophet Speaks:
Many years I have not been seen in these lands, busy on errands for the Gods. But I returned recently with the death of Mors V, and proceeded over his funeral wake. Now I have a more joyous task before me. That of putting a new Kaiser, and his Steward upon the throne.
When Mors V, ded with no proclaimed heir the struggle for the throne began, and quickly these two men found themselves the leaders of the pack, the obvious choices to lead the nation. In the end it was not one, but both of these men that would lead our nation. One as Kaiser, the other as Steward. It is not that one man was better than the other, or that one had a stronger ancestral claim, but that there could only be one Kaiser on the throne.
And now I am here, and with me the Sword of Vengeance, symbol of the crown of Shireroth, and of the rightful Kaiser to the throne.
Hasan, step forward. You have been chosen by the nobles of the land to lead this nation as Kaiser, in the hollowed halls of the Landsraad the dukes of Shireroth made their choice. And now, By the Will of the Gods, I present to you this Sword. And with it, I proclaim you Kaiser of all Shireroth. Further I present you with this crown as symbol of your rule. As there is no single crown for the Kaisers, this one has been crafted specifically for you and your bloodline, to be an heirloom of your house, wear it proudly.
The Prophet presents a gold crown, with the Silver in lay of a Ram's head centered above the forehead, with two rubies for eyes. Leading the new Kaiser up the steps of the throne, as Hasan sits upon the throne, the Prophet places the crown upon his head.
Hail Hasan I, Kaiser of Shireroth.
As the crowd subsides, Brrapa Lu'Eraro descends the steps and stands before Jacobus Loki, waiting at the base of the steps.
Jacobus Loki, Step forward. You have been chosen by the people of Shireroth to rule with the Kaiser. For centuries the Stewards of Shireroth have been ever vigilant in times of need, ready to take their humble place as leaders when and if the time for them should ever arise. Today, you once again take your place among those honored men and women of lore.
There is no symbol, no sign or effigy for the throne of the Steward, no crown to be warn by the Imperial Steward.
However this day, I present to the Stewards of Shireroth this gift. This Shield of the Steward. While the Kaiser is the undisputed head of the nation, wielding the Sword of Vengeance upon all those that may dare threaten the nation, it is the province of the Steward to bare the Shield of Honor. It is the province of the Steward to stands guard over the nation, and before the Kaiser, prepared to defend both from all threats. Like the squire on the field of battle, it is the place of the Steward to defend his master, and if he should fall, to take up his sword and fight with honor and glory.
Brrapa leads the Steward to his black throne at the base of the steps to the Imperial Throne, and as he sits, the Prophet places at his feet, so all may see, A Shield made of dark Silver, with the white-gold inlay of a mighty fruit bearing tree, with black pearls hanging from the branches.
Hail, Jacobus Loki,
Steward of Shireroth!
As the crowd once again calms the Prophet turns to face both the Kaiser and Steward on their thrones before turning to face the crowd
The Gods have blessed this day, these men and this nation!
HAIL KAISER HASAN I!
Hail his Steward, Jacobus Loki!

Re: Coronation of Hasan I
HAIL HASAN I!
Hail his Steward, Jacobus Loki!
The crowd cries as both take their seats. Then, one of the nobles comes forward to kneel before the throne of the Kaiser. There is whisperings in the crowd, and some of the other nobles begin to rise, anxious to prove their loyalty, but he has got there first. One of the Kaiser's strongest supporters, Baron Andreas the Wise kneels down and lays down his staff.
My Imperial Kaiser, I have no sword to lay before you, for I am not a fighting man of that sort. Instead, I lay my staff before you, to swear fealty to you and your throne, as long as you may live. You cannot count on my sword in battle, but you can count on my wisdom when e'er you need it, and, like a staff, lean on me when times are tough. Though it has been said elsewhere, at this ceremony, let me be the first to swear fealty to you, my Kaiser!
The Kaiser mutters a few words of thanks, but before he is finished, the Baron has turned to the Steward.
Oh slightly less nifty Steward. Though I have chosen my Kaiser first, my second loyalty lies to thee. I do swear fealty to thee as Steward also, and look forward to the day thou may become Kaiser also, in the fullness of time.
Then the Baron stays kneeling to see if either of them has anything to say to him.

Re: Coronation of Hasan I
After a great many of the Shirithian nobles had sworn fealty to the Kaiser, and the crowd was beginning to filter out of the chamber, Braden Indianensis approached the bottom step of the raised dais upon which sat the Steward's Chair and the Golden Mango Throne. A herald announced him: "The Honorable Braden Indianensis, the Commonwealth of Antica's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Imperial Republic of Shireroth."
He stopped at the bottom step, and Jacobus descended to the floor of the chamber to meet him. They grasped hands, and exchanged congratulations for thanks; and Kaiser Hasan nodded aloofly in the direction of the Antican diplomat. If this were an official state visit, and Speaker Schneider had been present, he and the Kaiser would have shaken hands or exchanged courtly bows; Braden, however, was not a head of state, and therefore had to content himself with talking to the Steward.
Braden removed from his waistcoat pocket a rectangular, black, felt box. "By the authority vested in me by the Assembly of the Commonwealth of Antica, I present Your Excellency and His Imperial Majesty with these tokens of our great esteem and affection." He opened the lid, revealing a gold pocket watch, shiny as a new Pecunia, and a smaller, silver one for the Steward. The Steward expressed his thanks and that of the Kaiser, he and Braden bowed to eachother, and then the Antican strolled out, winking audaciously at the Prophet and remaining nobles as he passed.

From a distance I'm concerned about the rampant lawyerism manifesting itself in Shireroth currently. A simple Kaiserial slap on the wrist or censure by the community should suffice. - Jacobus Loki

She smiles, happy to be let inside but keeping her mouth shut because some humanoids arent used to talking mounts (some are, but i digress). H4773r smiles and nods to Steward Jacobus. He then fixes his eyes upon Kaiser Hasan I, and bows deeply from the waste, removing his hat, mid-bow.

Re: Coronation of Hasan I
After receiving the crown, Hasan stood looking over the gathered officials before him. All eyes were unblinking and cold, even among Hasan's most loyal supporters. He was surely at a loss for words. It had been a great struggle arriving at this point and while the goal had been reached, there were still many skeptics assembled. The Prophet Brrapa Lu'Eraro presented Hasan with the Sword of Vengeance and with it, all the meaning of what had transpired. Hasan knelt to receive the Sword, and upon rising with it, held in his hand the symbol of the trust placed in him by the Realm. Aptly named, it was also the promise of what would happen should he fail.
"I say to you Shireroth, look! I am Kaiser Hasan of the House of Kalir! From a foreign born lowly Baron, you have created me Your Kaiser! Your allegiance to me is the investment that leads to your prosperity. For those that deny me, you only deny your own well being. Bring your best to me, your ideas, your plans and your ambitions and I will work day and night to make them so. We will prosper together and lead the world once again as the standard to which all Micras looks. Assembled here are also friends from other nations. We will work with them for the betterment of all. Today, we start new. If my detractors can forgive my past and support me, I will forgive my detractors. This is not the time for me to lay out my plans, as it would be irreverent to speak politics here, but for now I ask that you enjoy the day and welcome tomorrow as a new event horizon. Jacobus, Eventually there will be a time when you will hold this Sword. But even now as my Stewart, I call you brother out of respect, that we will govern Shireroth together."
Hasan bowed graciously to The Prophet and approached His Stewart. Shaking hands amid cheers from all assembled, they then raised the Sword of Vengeance and Shield of Honour together in salute to the reverence bestowed upon them. Andreas The Wise approached them and laid down his staff. After a short speech Hasan spoke to Andreas.
"Baron, your staff is as powerful as a sword, it represents the key to the riddle of the Sphinx and stands as a Column of my house, What honour I gain through acclaim, can never match the honour you gain from experience, your words will always have my ear during my reign"
After speaking with Andreas, Hasan moved to speak to Erik, Duke of Brookshire:
"Duke Erik, My great thanks to you, you acted as the last elector to my throne, I will do everything in my power to ensure you do not regret that decision. Your blessing will be my conscience during my reign"
Following this, Hasan paused to note The Antican Ambassador speaking with His Excellency The Stewart..
"Your Honour Braden, I am not so unapproachable that you cannot speak directly with me, it was only a short time ago that you honoured me by giving your ear to me as a humble Baron. I accept the gift and hope that we may soon speak together on better terms, If you wished it so, you would be my voice to Antica, speaking only the truth and not what I would wish you to say, during all my reign"
Following this, Hasan spoke briefly with H4773r. After Hasan's attendant had accepted the gift, Hasan bowed in return to the honour granted him and spoke.
"H4773r, The perfect nature of the B00/\/\ reminds me that all of us get our 15 seconds of fame before the fuse burns to its core. The law of entropy by which we are all bound. If you so wish, you would be that which keeps me grounded during my reign"
Bowing slightly again, Hasan moved on and was about to leave the chamber when he paused to see Maksym, where he paused for a moment and approached him. Whispering over his shoulder, Hasan spoke:
"Max, Get Jacobus, lets go for a pint"

Re: Coronation of Hasan I
Yvain Wintersong, Baron of Ynnraile and Occupied Neurac, arrives fashionably late in a style of courtly costume last popular during the reign of Kaise Mors IV "Nerrolar" (1978 - 2064 ASC). Several of the knights of Ynnraile follow, and behind them come several servants pulling loaded carts. When there is a lull in the crowd around Hasan, he kneels before him.
I, Baron Yvain Wintersong of Ynnraile and Occupied Neurac, swear loyalty to Kaiser Hasan I of lines Doran and Kalir. I vow to defend you and your crown in times of trouble, to put the resources of Ynnraile both military and economic at your disposal, and to revolt against you no more than twice in any two month period. I beg of you your protection and your endorsement as the continuing Baron of these lands. May the gods of Shireroth spare us both.
This being done, he presents the following gifts to the new Kaiser:
- Three cases of fine Ynnraile wine.
- Several priceless antique sculptures from southern Neurac.
- A replica of the sword of Artor Wintersong, a legendary symbol of Ynnrailian kingship. The original was forged from a meteorite by faery magic in days of old; the replica was forged from samples taken from a near-Micras asteroid, by Avakair Metalworking Co. in days of new.
- A collectible "Hasan I Kaisership" plate
- Gold jewelery from Ynnraile's only operating gold mine.
- The legendary Crystal of Trysellius, an epic artifact that shines with the power of .0000000006 suns.

Re: Coronation of Hasan I
While I'm not yet a noble officially, I'm just going to keep on calling myself Count of Blavatsky and get this over with:
By the will of the Landsraad, I accept the Kaiser Hasan I and pledge fealty.
=> Liam of Blavatsky
Now, for the "foreign diplomat" part:
I bear the best wishes to the Kaiser of Shireroth from the Empire of NorëstshonApolonä. I bear gifts for his Imperial Niftiness. Included in the package is:

Re: Coronation of Hasan I
Baroness Carol, of Lumina's Light, has been quietly awaiting a lull in the rush of dignitaries to the foot of the Mango e. When the crowd clears, she approaches and bows low. Your Imperial Majesty, or, rather, Your Niftiness, I offer you my loyalty, my support, and any aid I might be able to render to Your Throne. I know you realize I originally supported your rival to the throne, but I assure you that you have my full support as you lead Shireroth into the future. Long may you reign, and may your reign be glorious! Long live Shireroth!

Re: Coronation of Hasan I
(....somebody said something about a pint.)
The Steward lead them several blocks to the nearby foreign quarter. Across from the street was a plain-looking building, with an illegible sign.
"These people sheltered me when I was a hunted refugee. It's still the only place in Shireroth that sells Jubilee Ale."
The proprietor, after staring at the assembled worthies, walked over to Jacobus, stared him boldly in the face, with his hand out.
"You still owe me eighty-seven erb, Your Not-Quite Niftyness. I see you have wealthy friends....."
"Oh, that," replied the Steward. After Jacobus rummaged around in the pockets of his formal attire, Kaiser Hasan reached over, and handed the man a hundred erb piece especially struck for the coronation.
"You may keep the change, my good sir."
Looking at the Kaiser in his finest, the landlord started to shake. He took the coin, however.
Snapping his fingures the Steward spoke up. "Of course, THAT money."
He reached into a pouch embroidered with gold thread that hung near his belt. Reaching in, he pulled out a small handful of the gold pieces.
"A round for our party, and a round for the neighborhood!" The Steward whispered to his attendant nearby, handing him a coin. The attendant handed the coin to the Kaiser's footman. Nods were silently exchanged, and a party commenced.

Congratulations on your accession, good Kaiser. We may be in touch soon regarding certain policies you have suggested regarding the fate of historic Apollonian lands.

Harvey, I think you could find the Duchy of Kildare delighted to pay tribute to some of the lands mentioned in your games, since both I and Jonas are addicted to them ... I definetly would love to get the Jasonian islands back ...

Harvey, feel free to speak with me any time, we should catch up on events anyways. Last time we spoke was about 4 years ago. Regarding Apollo, we certainly need to converse. I don't want to overstep my bounds however I believe the entire culture has been relegated to the personal knowledge of the people who were active at the time. I'm considering approaching the MCS about recognition of Apollo as this sectors first "Ancient Civilization". With that, I'd like to see the rise of a "Neo-Apollo" movement in the sector. Don't know if thats getting ahead of myself, but it would certainly be interesting.

All Hail Kaiser Hasan! Good luck.

I for one am definitely behind any initiative to make the history of the Apollo sector more widely known. Be sure to keep me informed, if you please, Your Niftiness.Harvey, feel free to speak with me any time, we should catch up on events anyways. Last time we spoke was about 4 years ago. I'll fight it at every turn...
Apollo was ancient history... Long past and I see no need to resurrect it.. (what would you be bringing back again anyways?) I think we should focus on the culture we've developed here on our own. Apollo had it's time. That time is over. Let the memory rest.

Hmmm true, I suppose if it were to happen, the few remaining Apollonians would have already done so.

Re: Coronation of Hasan I
I had counted on that. Fortunately for me, my plans aren't intimately connected with Shireroth; even if you somehow manage to way public policy here, it won't matter. There are people in this country that are interested, perhaps they'll like what I'm going to do, perhaps not. If you want to continue your resentment of the past, that's fine, go right ahead. As for me, I crave a bit more than the mangoes and explosions that you prize so highly here. Isolationalism in time as well as towards your neighbors is the fastest way to stagnation, after all.Erik Mortis Brookshire wrote:"With that, I'd like to see the rise of a "Neo-Apollo" movement in the sector."

(remembers Bab5 and recalls vorlons, shadows and first ones if anyone knows what I mean)
Alright, I had hoped that enough time had passed to address the issue but apparently this is still an issue. Shireroth has a whole new generation that aren't effected by that conflict and there is no reason to bring everyone into it now. Harvey, I am personally interested in it, but as Kaiser I will not dig up old conflicts simply out of interest (which I could easily see happening), Erik, how would you like to address the issue of history? You and I have some common ground here in that both Shireroth and Babkha were subject to being in "the apollo sector" when both nations had their own identity separate from it. But we cannot simply forget the past and its importance.

I have no intention to forget the past. I just don't want to bring back a culture into a nation I founded to get away from it. (and failed for quite some time, but eventually succeeded.)

Oh, quite. Though it's some of Shireroth's dirty little secrets that this country was founded as a democracy that you hate so strongly these days and that it worked just fine as a government system here. And that you were close allies with Jasonia for many months, pretty much the strongest symbol of Apollo remaining, and had no particular beef with the Apollo name until Erik had a falling out with Bill and got mad at him, Jasonia, the sector, and the world in general. Apollo represented baggage he didn't want, and so it wasn't allowed in Shireroth. Why are political parties banned in Shireroth? Because Audentior was torn apart by them, with the actual tearing ironically having been done by Shireroth itself.
Many of Shireroth's traditional trends that are taken for granted by this point are textbook cases of reactionary policies to current events of ages past. I wouldn't call it particularly "working hard"; it's more of seeing something that was causing another country a problem and deciding that Shireroth was better off without it. That sort of policy has gotten the country far, yes, I'll admit that, though I'd credit less to the government and more to Erik's absolute stubborness in refusing to let the country stay dead forever. Lost in the shuffle though are the reasons, the motives, for the things you do, and it seems like people have forgotten why things like democracy is a bad thing; the reasons it isn't in Shireroth were never terribly solid to begin with and are based largely on taboo.
Perhaps, to you Erik, Apollo represents a lot of bad stuff that you've done your best to keep out of Shireroth. But to the rest of us, it wasn't all that bad. Sure some of the ideas were godawful, but that was part of the fun; testing out weird concepts for micronations to see what worked. I wonder if the interest in Apollo history these days has to do with people wondering why micronations do the things they do. The answers are buried in the sands of time, and it's my intention to make sure people remember them, if only so that they provide concrete case studies of things to avoid in the future.
