A civil war?

Post by Andreas the Wise »

Is out of the question, unfortunately. I thought it obvious, asked Jacobus, and he reminded me he's on his holiday with patchy internet access - and thus not in good shape to do a fair civil war.

And both are qualified - Loki II has Loki I, and Sakat can confirm Jayatar's links to Doran.

So, what's the most shirithian way to solve this? I'll get back to you in a moment ...
The character Andreas the Wise is on indefinite leave.
However, this account still manages:
Cla'Udi - Count of Melangia
Manuel - CEO of VBNC. For all you'll ever need.
Vincent Waldgrave - Lord General of Gralus
Q - Director of SAMIN
Duke Mel'Kat - Air Pirate, Melangian, and Duke of the Flying Duchy of Glanurchy

And references may be made to Vur'Alm Xei'Bôn (a Nelagan Micron of undisclosed purpose).

Civil war? BAH! Then I can't call up the armies of the Empire to fight for my liege! I suggest we ignore all of this nonsense and accept Kaiser Loki II!

Thank you, dear friend.

Civil War must be avoided. It is too soon after the last one.

As I have said before...

In this matter, I consider myself Shirithian, not Imperial or Gralan, and will, as such, make my own decision. Just because you are my Emperor away from here does not mean you can force me to support someone I do not.

No offense to Jacobus... you did make a good Steward. :)

(Sigh)

Yep, I was a pretty decent Steward.

Then I'll have to find a different commander for the Army, Prodigy!

At this stage, I think we can see that support is fairly even for both parties. So we can sit here for weeks until, eventually, one capitulates or convinces everyone of his position, and we emerge with a clear winner. But more and more I think we need one impressive, defining moment to decree a clear winner. That can't be a civil war, we know. But it could be a quest - a quest set by the ghost of the old Kaiser, perhaps. As I see it, writing good stories IS very Shirithian, and some amazing things can come out in ... stories/expeditions written by a group of people together. For some reason, I think that someone finding, say, the Sword of Vengance, in a suitably dramatic way, is going to convince a lot more shirithians than mere genealogies or character references from the last 6 months ...

That's not a bad idea actually. I think many might also be waiting for me to back one or the other.. or give signs of support to one. Which I have not done as of yet.

A quest? Interesting...
But you need a lot time to make a story.
From a distance I'm concerned about the rampant lawyerism manifesting itself in Shireroth currently. A simple Kaiserial slap on the wrist or censure by the community should suffice. - Jacobus Loki

Or you could choose once Jacobus gives us his agenda. By then you should have an easy time deciding if you haven't already made a decision and are holding out on us...

Ok, if it's not democracy, then technically Jacobus, acting as Steward in lieu of the Kaiser, can name himself heir and there's enough support in the Landsraad to let him have it and no kaiser to tell him no. :kaiser

(IC) Ah, but Jayatar has been acclaimed Kaiser by his followers in the field. That being so no force of reason or procedure can deprive His Niftiness of the sacred majesty of Kaisership. :kaiser

Unless Civil War is the only deciding measure...... :evil

Well, the Landsraad seems divided 2-2, with Brookshire having the deciding "vote" (oddly enough). Not that we are discussing "democracy" or any such foreign idea. :D

Agreed, Democracy has about as much a foundation in reality as your chance of victory. :p

But since Brookshire is the deciding vote, we arrive where we started.

Well this will require remedy if we cannot come to a conclusion. It seems the split very nearly down the middle. I hate to admit it, but if The Good Duke of Brookshire won't step in, we may be forced to resort to the word the starts with "D" and ends in "emocracy".

I have nearly come to a decision. Maybe I should just say it now....

(funny how I'm the deciding vote of the Dukes, and the one who would have named the heir in the first place)
