History of Kildare
Ok, you old people probably thought it was obvious, but it wasn't (we'll have to change that in the future) and I think it's finally got through to me after reading the first two "Ages of Shireroth" and flicking through the Kildare history ...
Kildare doesn't have a Shireroth history much, does it (apart from Halucigrad) - it's virtually all Apollo nations which you guys have outlived and then annexed? Is that the right way of looking at it?
So, either people didn't record culture because they thought it was obvious from the old nation, or just nothing was really developed in the first place ...
Oh, and I've accidentally made Raynor isles a repeat of the Khaz Modian empire's fall ... we'll see if it doesn't end up quite so bad ...
Wait (looks at archived MCS maps) ... was Western Kildare always Shirithian? http://micromaps.org/archives/bigworldb-v150.gif
And the other bits of Atterock, save Melangia, were added soonish http://micromaps.org/archives/bigworldb-v350.gif, but eastern Kildare is all other Apollo nations?

Re: History of Kildare
In matters like this, the Microscope is of great help (and I'm certainly going to be referring to it from now on instead of repeating blunders like the one about Blackrock Nua)...
The original map of the UAS was the *first* map in the world of Micras. That area is now Kildare. So, no, it was not always Shirithian, it was originally UAS...
And as for the history, yeah. it's all fiction up to 0 ASC, and from then a fictionalised retelling of the history of the Apollo sector from a Soloralist perspective, with a few completely fictional events thrown in to sweeten the deal. I would actually not even really count it as a Shirithian work, but indeed as Soloralist culture. If it were more Shirithian it wouldn't call the annexation of Amity a compromise
As for recording the culture of the Apollonian states for Kildare... I'd say it was "nothing was really developed in the first place", because for this geographical area, nothing really was. The UAS was very short-lived.

Ok, many thanks Ari. I think I've got it just about sorted in my head to being working on a more recent history ...

Re: History of Kildare
Hypatias' Mom, Jonas and Nick ... should we make a concerted effort to flesh out more Kildare mythology/history during the Dark Ages (large period of inactivity) and following it, as a group? Coordination between baronies and all that? It could be quite interesting ...

Re: History of Kildare
possibly reiterating what ari already said . .
when i first came about we had a firecracker of a member called bill.
Bill was a fierce champion of Appollonian history and culture, and even in just passing posts i could tell that area had RICH history beyond Shireroth.
Shame, that Bill left us after a stint as kaiser and got fed up with not being able to inspire activity, as well as a constant ignoring of his lands (we, not himself, ignored the lands)
He was a rich resource and Shireroth hasn't been the same to me since he left.

Re: History of Kildare
I know (I've started playing his CoD1). That's why this would be legends for the large period where most of Shireroth was inactive and after, so as not to disturb the prior histories ...

Re: History of Kildare
Gentlemen--
As much as I appreciated all that Bill brought to Shireroth, I feel that at this time he is not able to contribute to this country. You may be able to get in touch with him personally, but I don't think he is interested in returning to us. And there are others who might have more of the histories for you to read. I'm sure someone has archives of Kildare.

Re: History of Kildare
I'm just tossing this out there. You can do with it what you want.
Kildare is pretty much the oldest populated territory on the face of Micras itself. As already stated, Kildare was first mapped by Erik as territory of the Union of Apollo States, the last major Apollonian merger. But the UAS was created from Apollo nations and so some people (mostly Bill and I) have decided that pretty much all old Apollo micronations held this territory during their existance. At the very least, Audentior Independant Nation, the Republic of Blackrock, the United Demesos, Automatic for the People / GAPR / all their name changes, and MyNation were founded, lived, and died in the territory that is now known as Kildare.
The UAS land actually went a bit past the river to the east, but that territory was given the Apollo Foundation instead of Shireroth. In retrospect this was a massive mistake because the AF holdings got wiped from the map. When they did, the historic capital of Audentior, Airosamente, vanished as well. As Audentior was the first Apollo micronation, Airosamente is a major holy site and can probably be safely considered THE first and oldest major city on the planet. It still lives on in the hearts of the historians. Some territories in Kildare also have major historic importance. Djugagrad was the capital of the GARP, Audentior's old nemises. Blackrock Nua was founded by refugees after Blackrock's fall. Kitanus City was formerly Demesos City, the capital of that country. Mie was MyNation's capital as well. The "New" cities in New Jasonia were named after the old ones in Jasonia Proper.
A couple maps might help:
http://bill3000.net/Maps/apollomicras230.gif - this is one of Bill's attempts to create MCS maps of what the world might have looked like if the MCS has existed way back then. ACS 230 is a few weeks before Shireroth's foundation, thus the empty continent where the country is today. It's probably one of the best maps he's created for the past and is something we use for CoD games and general historical mucking.
http://bill3000.net/Maps/apollomicras360.gif - ACS 360 was after the Audente Republic merger failed and a lot of countries, Shireroth included, became part of Jasonia.
So yeah. You could write books (or, in my case, video games) about Kildare alone. As far as new nations being founded, mergers, wars, and weird diplomacy, Apollonia packed more in two years of history than any comparable period of time.

Re: History of Kildare
Thanks, Harvey. None of us were part of Shireroth when it was founded, and we don't have any of your memories of Kildare as it was. Do you have any of the old fictional histories in your archives? We would really appreciate anything you can add to our meager knowledge. btw, it's great to see you still around. Please say hi to Bill for me.
