Multiple citizenship bill

Post by andelarion »

Dukes of Shireroth,

I bring you a bill. I realize that one provision here is controversial but it is my belief that members of the legislature ought to put Shireroth in highest consideration,to which end I thought banning dual citizenship at all for dukes. Well, that would bring Shireroth in to some sort of anarchy (as most dukes have allegiances outside Shireroth). By banning tri-citizenship for them, a duke would only have two nationalities, and less conflict of interest in deciding matters in the Empire.

I don't believe this would affect anyone right now, but rather it would give us a security in the future in making sure that the rulers of the Empire (Landsraad, Prætor and Steward) are being faithful to the Empire and the Kaiser.

I will gladly discuss this further should you please before you make a decision.

Thank you.
The Dukes of Shireroth, assembled in Landsraad, acting under the authority granted by the Imperial Decreebook´s sixth chapter (section E, part d), enact as follows: -

Section C of Chapter VII of the Imperial Lawbook shall be amended to read:
C: Multiple citizenship

1. All Commoners and Nobles of baronial rank are allowed three nationalities including their Shirerithian nationality.

2. Ruling Nobles of ducal rank, the Prætor and Steward are allowed two nationalities including their Shirerithian nationality.

Hmm, it appears that two dukes are tri-cit

I'd hate to make anyone leave their office, so if you like, dear dukes, you can add the following (thanks Harald!) to the bill:
2. Ruling Nobles of ducal rank, the Prætor and Steward are allowed two nationalities including their Shirerithian nationality provided that any person having three nationalities immediatly before the coming into force of the aforegoing provision and who is Ruling Noble of ducal rank or holds the office of Prætor of or of Steward shall not be affected by the said provision.

I think the idea of grandfathering in those dukes who would no longer be in compliance with this provision is a vital move. By doing so, Shireroth would retain the allegiance of those who otherwise would be stripped of their position.

That law is there for a reason (here's looking at you, Khan), if it's law, then they have broken it, and that needs to be rectified.

Well... you see, the lawbook was lost, and now they (the Landsraad) adopted an old version of the Lawbook and have begun editing it.

So we'd need to put the law back.

Hey, this law... I knew I wasn't crazy...

Of course in most situations any further constrictions on my citizenship levels I would avidly contest, but this prolly won't ever affect me, so I'm happy.

I support this. The Tri-cit part is already in place by law set down by the Kaiser.. but the duel cit part I do greatly like...

And I support the "grandfather clause".

but..were are the descenders.. I know they are here somewhere.

I'm torn by this. The spirit is correct, but something feels odd.

I heartily support the tri-cit rule. Some people go about collecting citizenships, and that waters down many communities.

The revived Shireroth certainly has enough activity (I spend 90%+ of my MN-time here now).

This makes Shirithian citizenship and nobility Something of Worth.

I have been weighing this in my mind for some time. I know I would not be affected by this bill should it pass, but the spirit of things is often as important as the letter of the law.

Therefore, I have resigned from the Kingdom of Morovia.

This has been on my mind since Dec. 20th, and I thought it best that I do it before the final vote in the Landsraad.

No, I go around visiting in slightly more than a mere Diplomatic way ... there's a difference ...

Ok, admittedly I just dropped Adraisian and Vanderveeran citizenships, but they were never real citizenships anyway, my only real citizenships (nations I spend a ton of time on and would defend against anyone) are Gralus and Shireroth ...
The character Andreas the Wise is on indefinite leave.
However, this account still manages:
Cla'Udi - Count of Melangia
Manuel - CEO of VBNC. For all you'll ever need.
Vincent Waldgrave - Lord General of Gralus
Q - Director of SAMIN
Duke Mel'Kat - Air Pirate, Melangian, and Duke of the Flying Duchy of Glanurchy

And references may be made to Vur'Alm Xei'Bôn (a Nelagan Micron of undisclosed purpose).

If the silver is gone our king must do two things:
a. Punish some innoncent peasants with a terrible punishment.
b. Take some silver away from his nobles.

The only persons who have difficulties of it are we, the nobles. :cry

...

Yes, and the peasants...

Nothing wrong with going around collecting citizenships. :) It makes things easier sometimes... other times it confuses things, but that's the way of most things - good and bad aspects, right?
