Overstepping of Bounds
It appears that I have inadvertantly overstepped the bounds that the Kaiser has reimposed on those who may post in the Landsraad. I was under the impression that minor nobles (Baronial level) could speak, but that only major nobles (Ducal rank) could vote. I apologize for the error, and will adhere to the Kaiser's wishes in future. I still stand by the statements in my post, and hope the landsraad will take it into consideration when deciding on the outcome of the legislation that has been proposed.

Don't worry about it.. I'm still trying to figure things out... I think you may get to speak and vote... which.. is an oddity.. as it makes you as powerful as a Duke... so.. something might be up...

Your niftiness,
I too apologize if I was out of line, I read the law to state that all nobles could speak. My apologies, I was used to being Baron

Re: Overstepping of Bounds
I apologize for speaking out of rank, but may I suggest the Tokian system? We give points based on rank in the Congress of Lords. Dukes get 3 vote points, Earls 2, and Barons 1. The king/queen and prince/princess get 5 points each...
Then the matter is decided by majority vote points...

Everyone may speak in the Front gate...
Oh, and you may definitely suggest the system Toketi uses, thank you very much, but we've already been through several different variations of *that* and... well, it was all good fun, but... let's say there's a reason why we're simplifying the voting in Landsraad again

It was more speaking out of rank than anything...

Re: Overstepping of Bounds
All this confusion, I think, can be traced back to the implementation of "New Feudalism," and a more egalitarian voting system, brought in during the time when we had so few citizens that if only dukes were to vote, there would only be two or three people left out. This didn't bring in more activity as was expected, so that system was to be overhauled, and returned to a more traditional format. This was not accomplished until after Erik returned. We are now trying to clean up the mess and figure where we stand now. I think all the changes confused everyone.

Which feudalism system was the one that gave each duke 10 or so Landsraad votes and then the Duke could hand out however many votes to his or her barons? As a foreigner watching in on things back in the day, I always liked that system for some reason.

Re: Overstepping of Bounds
Actually, a lot of people liked it, but at the time the activity level was so low that it almost didn't matter what we tried--lack of posting and many people gone meant that a lot of former citizens and interested people gave us no chance of recovery. During my reign and my daughter's after me, we got both public and private urgings to pull the plug and archive the forum. Since I had no part in starting Shireroth and was still a relative newcomer, I didn't feel I had the right to do this. When I spoke with Erik, he said he didn't want Shireroth to die, and he eventually came back and rescued her. We owe a great debt of gratitude to him and to the few who wouldn't give up. It is interesting to me to see many of these people now posting again, and many returning to active citizenship.

Re: Overstepping of Bounds
Personally.. the system I WANT to see is Dukes get 1 vote Each. And Barons can speak.. And that's it. perhaps a small tweak to the procedures could accomplish this? (although, with no charter. I CAN technically just make it happen...
