I celebrated new year by going into a bar and talking with some geology students. Apparently one of them is going to bring about technological singularity. Also, they were somewhat impressed with my geological knowledge that I learned from Dwarf Fortress, but also somewhat put off by the bits that were wrong (apparently granite and gabbro are igneous intrusive rocks instead of metamorphic). All in all, I prefer this universe to a hypothetical universe where I never went out drinking last night.
