Pre-Landsraad: Baronies of Kildare

Post by Ari Rahikkala »

Turns out that everyone, including me, basically ignored or completely forgot about the fact that the creation of Baronies must go through the Landsraad.

Now, yeah, I know. Everything worked fine in Kildare, their new Baronies are cool, everybody who matters has basically agreed on them, so why bring the Landsraad into this? Why not just allow the Dukes to handle their own Baronies?

Well... the fact is, we *are* a micronation. We need a little bit of ceremony. We need there to be prestige for the position of Baron. And here's an excellent way to create prestige: Having the creation of your Barony go through the Landsraad. A Barony isn't just something your Duke arbitrarily set aside for you; Every Barony is an important part of Shireroth, existing with the protection and grace of the highest levels of government, and Barons thus have an important responsibility to the Imperial Republic as a whole. Sure, things would go along swimmingly even if Dukes could create and remove Baronies at will, but... the value of the position of a Baron is enrichened by having Barony creation go through the Landsraad.

If you agree with the idea, I don't expect you will have any problems with the form of the bill. Since it doesn't go into the Lawbook anyway it's as simple as it could possibly be... I'm just posting this thread in the Front Gate first, because I expect there to be some discussion and disagreement, and we're not in a hurry...
The Baronies of the Duchy of Kildare shall be Atterock, Antya and Lumina's Light.

A Duke can also turn to the Kaiser if he wants to create Baronies.

How about do it as Kaiser and confirm it through Landsraad?
The character Andreas the Wise is on indefinite leave.
However, this account still manages:
Cla'Udi - Count of Melangia
Manuel - CEO of VBNC. For all you'll ever need.
Vincent Waldgrave - Lord General of Gralus
Q - Director of SAMIN
Duke Mel'Kat - Air Pirate, Melangian, and Duke of the Flying Duchy of Glanurchy

And references may be made to Vur'Alm Xei'Bôn (a Nelagan Micron of undisclosed purpose).

I can do it as a Duke, then send it through the Landsraad.
