Whatever happened to Antica?
I talked with Chrimigules a couple of days ago on http://www.nafticon.org/phpbb/... then, last night, the posts weren't there anymore (seems the forum had jumped backwards in time a week or so, maybe longer). Today the whole server seems to be down...
I will investigate these events later today and report.

I was under the impression Antica died a few months back.
Personally, I'm surprised the site is still up at all

Re: Whatever happened to Antica?
Our host decided to sell its low-tier paid customers to another company and moved all of us. And they used a version of the Antican website from about... a month or two ago. Oh, and our wiki appears to be screwed. Yeah, and the website is blinking on and off.
I've discussed things with Foghorn, and I'm going to follow him and transfer the Antican website to a new location that will be cheaper and better. Considering I unilaterally pay for Antica, cheaper is better.
And yes, the Antican government failed and the Antican nation went into hibernation, but I've been working with Braden on a project that requires access to our archives, and I'm not a 1337 enough computer man to access those archives using the database backup manually.

Re: Whatever happened to Antica?
Ew. Your hosting company screwed you over pretty bad. Anyway, it seems you've still got plans to do Antican things with Antica, and your new host seems quite impressive, so I wish you a lot of luck. And remember, once you get tired of the simulationist stuff, running foreign affairs and squabbling over pixels on a PNG and such, you can always hand those bits over to someone else without detracting from your ability to do Antican things

Jacobus, if we somehow end up annexing the Republic of Antica, we're going to need to add a God of Irony to the Divine Census...

You annexed the last failed incarnation, but once we work out the kinks on the tech side, I don't think we'll have a problem getting her back up and running. It's only a matter of getting a few friends, and the old crew back in one place.Jacobus Loki wrote:ANNEXATION!! ANNEXATION! MWHhahahah.................

The character Andreas the Wise is on indefinite leave.
However, this account still manages:
Cla'Udi - Count of Melangia
Manuel - CEO of VBNC. For all you'll ever need.
Vincent Waldgrave - Lord General of Gralus
Q - Director of SAMIN
Duke Mel'Kat - Air Pirate, Melangian, and Duke of the Flying Duchy of Glanurchy
And references may be made to Vur'Alm Xei'Bôn (a Nelagan Micron of undisclosed purpose).

Re: Whatever happened to Antica?
Lolz.
I can remember all the times when I heard Shireroth was dead, or that Matbaa was dead- they always spring back up eventually. I'm the founder of Matbaa, I sodded off a few months ago, and it's still up and running.
I suppose when you get citizens who are prepared to keep an mn alive, you've cracked the inactivity problem.
Oh well, best of luck to Antica, then.
Long may she live!

It was an evil plan of Malarbor to bring activity back... after the inactivity...
From a distance I'm concerned about the rampant lawyerism manifesting itself in Shireroth currently. A simple Kaiserial slap on the wrist or censure by the community should suffice. - Jacobus Loki

Well... OK then, to an ignorant outsider as I was at the time, it appeared to be dying. Maybe that's because Shireroth has never been as keen on getting involved in intermicronational affairs as other micronations. Probably because their existence is so fleeting compared to Shireroth's long history lol

I'll have you know we outlasted a few Troy nations before crumbling (as most republics here tend to do).Maksym Hadjimehmetov wrote:Well... Yeah, more hosting woes. The old SQL backup is not playing well with the new SQL server. Working on it.

Re: Whatever happened to Antica?
Update: The Antican website should be up and running once the server containing the old website completes its transit from Texas to Florida, is plugged back in, and made available. And then we'll grab everything, close the account, and put it elsewhere.
